it has unique controls unlike your regular track and field type game , i have the cart and have played it on a tube tv, it isnt any easier

I imagine that any amount of lag is bad for the river jump. The timing has to be dead on.

That's what I thought at first.  Turns out that's not the issue.  River Jump = everyone is overthinking it

Speed running AI would require not only mastering the game, but also the skateboard. The speedruns of AI that I've seen are all tool assisted and never AGDQ or anything like that.

Yep. Which means I have my plate full for 2018.
I will lose whatever sanity I still have.

The Kung Fu people need to start posting scores.

I'm waiting for the sub 19k Double Dragon score after what you did to my old low score record during the DD2 contest.

Maybe after the tournament is over. I had to focus 100% on 1943 this week just to scrap by a paltry 4th place score!

One day we need to line up that one on one DD2 high score challenge. I know that the 164,500 "perfect" score can be beaten, but I don't have the math skills or the patience to figure out what the highest possible score is.
Aye, that would be interesting.
But I have quite well laid plans for next year, which is one of the reasons I will be retiring the contest after this season.
I want to get not so terrible at competitive SSF2:T to take part on EVO and Canada Cup and figure out how to speed run  Adventure Island.

I was hoping that you would put your math skills to the test one day to figure out what the actual highest possible score is so I could see if I could get it.

I never had any issue beating Adventure Island when I was a kid since it was a game that I actually owned, but I haven't played it in almost 30 years, so I doubt that I'd be any good at it now.

BTW, I have NES Bump n Jump coming in the mail. It's still unbeaten in the "beat every NES game" thread and I'm also thinking that it will appear in the weekly contests sooner or later. Mexican Runner says it will turn your hair grey trying to beat it without the continue code.

That's impressive if you could beat it without the Hudson bee. Some of those later levels make Battletoads seem easy by comparison.

I guess because I owned it, I played it a lot. My disdain for Battletoads is well documented by my "rage trade in story". I've posted it before, but the short version is that game was so aggravating to beat that I literally took the cart out of my NES after I finally beat it, drove to the closest game shop and traded it in. Given the finals selection, this story works because I traded it for $5 and Joust.

It was a contest game most recently in 2015. I finished 3rd, but I don't remember if I beat it or not.

Bea has become aware of our plan to post 3 million + scores, so be wary of her! The jig is up!

I remember back during the 2016 contest when breaking a million was the goal. Man, I feel old!

Where is your 3.1 million score? I know you 4 are ready to snipe at the last minute to knock me and Tables out!

Well, Guil already has my picks for next week so no one will have to wait for me to wake up and call my pick.
I will be fast asleep when this ends, sadly.

Must to my dismay, yes, it seems the icy naughty thing is the mascot for the contest now.
