Blah, clouds. Been a busy week, and I don't really care for this game, but didn't want to miss out on some sweet, sweet participation points.

This may be the Marmite or Vegemite of video games that is an acquired taste and that people are gonna love or hate. Generally the people who love it had it as a kid.

I suspect I am one of those rare few that came to enjoy it right away.
I never played this one when I was a wee lass, but played it a bit on emulators around 2007~2009 and found it fun.

But you already have a taste for clunky, frustrating games. You love NES Ikari Warriors.

And Superman, Rambo, Athena among others... You name it.
My tastes are not... very conventional indeed.

I've loved the series since I played it back then. I don't like the third one as much as the first two,but I do like it.

Yeah, I am not overly found of the third one as well. It is fun, but not as fun and good as the first two games.

I recall having some sort of contact with Ironsword as a kid. I rented it, or a friend rented it and brought it over. I remember being impressed with the visuals, but I never got into this series.

Playing it now, it's definitely a grower. You really need to have some patience and good will for this one. It's rough around the edges to say the least.

Wow. Wow.... Okay,so I was easily on pace for a sub 500k run. I had 226k and change at the start of the earth level with 5 lives. So there's the golden tankard in this circle section of rock in which the platform leading to it is often occupied by a ghost which doesn't go away. So I'm trying to figure out a way to attack this piece of shit then a bat lands on my head....dead (had 3/4th of my health bar) So I go to try to attack this damn ghost. I lunge to attack and he touches me...one hit death. I respawn in the same place...he's right on me...another instant death. That little fucker instant deathed me 4 consecutive times in the span of like 20 seconds. Game over. What a crock of shit. So either get the diamond sword to actually be able to hit the damn thing or try to find a secret room to reset the playfield. Again, this shitstain is easily the most overpowered enemy in the entire game. It's insane. So yeah, bring the diamond sword or run like hell or be prepared to lose some or all of your lives if it traps you in that area where the golden tankard is. Now I'm pissed. Now I'm really going to get this damn sub 500k score. Fuck you ghost!
You should try to beat Battletoads. It's much longer than Ironsword, but aside for a small handful of sections (the Surf City mines and the Terra Tubes yellow electric eels), there is little in the way of randomness and cheap deaths.

It's on the list. I am impressed that you beat it. It's a way better accomplishment than me beating this game.

I used to hate Battletoads with a pasion because I thought it was super cheap but now I really like and appreciate the game. It's a very well made game and I do plan to beat it. I've vanquished GnG,so Battletoads is definitely next up.

I played through Battletoads again today. It's almost all memorization, so once you know how to do it, you can pretty much beat the thing any time you feel like. And it keeps getting easier the more you practice.

I definitely recommend playing this on real hardware and CRT since it requires almost frame perfect reaction times in some parts, and the classic NES pad works so well with the game. You're really good if you can beat it on emulator without using save states.

Participation time!  I accidentally hit start and had to use a continue to take the picture showing where I was, hence why my score is at 0.  It never occurred to me to take the picture on the Game Over screen itself.  If that's grounds for disqualification, then so be it.

You can get a picture by pausing during the long death animation.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.
