Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week’s game is going to be Shinobi.  Here are the rules:

  • Play as far into your last life as possible (no extra lives icons remaining in the upper right corner of the screen).  Do not allow yourself to get a Game Over or you will not be able to get your score.
  • Note on the stage 2 boss: You cannot see your score while you are fighting the boss.  Just before you go into the boss fight, it is highly recommended you take a picture of your score.  Play it safe and get it secured before the boss fight in case you lose all your lives.
  • No point racking during the stage 2 boss or on the final boss
  • If you beat the game, take your picture on the final screen that reads The End.  Your score will be there
  • Highest score wins
  • GENRE: Beat ‘Em Up

The contest ends Sunday, 8/30/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

There should probably be a rule against point racking the ninjas in this spot since they infinitely jump out until you blow up the engine on the helicopter.

Shinobi is like the fat ugly chick that Shatterhand hangs out with to make itself feel better. Right now Shinobi is lookin like dog shit and Shatterhand is lookin like a super model.

Well Shinobi is pretty easy, so I'll just let you run with that.

When I first played this I seriously thought it was like a hack of Bad Dudes where you get to play as one of the generic ninja enemies. It's not an awful game, but it's definitely not Shatterhand.

Lol, comparing my mom to the ease of Shinobi? She probably had that coming. Wake me up when it's time to lay the smack down on Iron Mike. I practiced a little bit yesterday and had the first knockdown at 1:01. I'm a little rusty I guess.

My personal best on the first knockdown is 56 seconds. My 2:36 Round 1 TKO from the 2013 weekly contest was only one second off of the (then) TG record. The current TG record for Tyson is 2:15, but apparently the fastest recorded time is 2:10.

I had him at 2:46 yesterday. My goal for next week is to just be in the 230's. I'll be ecstatic if get into the 220's. Sorry to derail the thread btw, carry on with Shiblowme, I mean Shinobi.

I'll probably play some tonight just to knock the rust off. I could always use another sports genre icon!

While I'm waiting for shinobi to arrive, I just went through the MTPO thread from 2013 creeper alert lol. Looks like bearcat-Doug is the one to beat.

If it makes you feel any safer, my practice runs yesterday didn't go very well. I really need to work on my timing.

I only got one first round TKO yesterday and that was at 2:57. I kept getting the pattern where he stands still for six seconds around the 0:40-0:50 mark so I was wearing out the reset button.

The best I got tonight was 2:47. I probably lost about ten seconds on that attempt due to getting the "stall tactic" pattern again. For whatever reason, I seem to get that stall pattern about 9 out of 10 times and it throws my timing off when I actually get the good one.
