Hey everyone! I took a long break, but I'm back in the retro game hunting mood! Recently boxed copies of Pokemon Red and Metroid II showed up at our local store for great prices, and it was the jumpstart I needed to start rebuilding my boxed Game Boy collection. Seems like getting boxed GB isn't any easier than it was a few years ago, but that's part of what makes it so exciting.

I'm also not looking for "rare" games. I'm focusing mostly on first party Nintendo games, Konami games, and a number of choice third party favourites. I've already got a great start, and I have a number of things in the mail for me. In this thread I won't be listing the prices I paid, since people tend to get fixated on the "deal" rather than the obtaining of the item. Rest assured I don't pay stupid prices, but I'm okay with overspending a little bit.

Essentially I'm just showing off what I've bought recently.

Update #1:

Got these games yesterday.

Dr. Mario is one of my all time favourites, Wario Land is important for my "Nintendo Franchise Set", and Ninja Turtles is important for my "Konami/Ultra Games Franchise Set". Baseball I purchased mainly to swipe inserts from, as it had the plastic tray, all the early GB insert ads, and even the original thicker cartridge baggie. Final Fantasy Legend is one of those third party favourites I wanted to get.

Very happy with these purchases, and on a month with a tighter budget I can focus on buying manuals and such for them.

  • Wario Land has a player's choice cartridge that needs to be replaced with a regular edition
  • Wario Land is missing the manual
  • Final Fantasy Legend is missing the manual
  • Final Fantasy Legend is missing the map
I have five seperate packages in the mail for me, all of which contain boxed Game Boy games. I'm looking forward to them all showing up, and one in particular is really exciting, as you'll find out eventually.

I'm also very excited to replay all of these games once they show up, even if two of them are absurdly difficult.

Haven't updated in a while, but I finally got to go game shopping today! I ordered a few things online, and went to the store to pick something up I had been wanting.

Lovely copy of Morkat Kombat. Might be the nicest condition box I have right now. I've also ordered boxed copies of Mega Man Dr. Wily's Revenge, Harvest Moon GB, Super R.C Pro Am, and Radar Mission. All of that stuff should arrive in the middle of august, and at that point I'll consider doing some more shopping. For now though, I've got a tournament to take part in.
