Just thought of something. If someone breaks 1 million points, the score rolls over. If anyone rolls the score, be sure to take a picture right before the score rolls and then right after.

@treismac: Sorry, I won't be able to take your score. Once you get to your last life is when you take your picture. It's a good score that I'm sure you will be able to duplicate by Sunday night

@gutsman: Very sorry to hear this take care man and hope everything works out for the best for you and your family.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

Went Virtual Console for this one since I don't own the cart. This isn't one of the games I played as a kid, in fact I've hardly played it at all, so I doubt I'll end up with much of a score. Participation point it is, unless I have a chance to try again this weekend!

What about a video? Right now, I have my NES hooked up through my PC and TV (video splitter) to a capture card, so it would be easier to click a button and have it record, or would you want the whole thing recorded with the TV showing? Not that I anticipate getting over a million, but the possibility is there if I can can manage to survive stage 6-2 and 6-3

As always, video is fine.  Direct capture videos are acceptable, but in light of recent events, a recording of the TV showing would be preferable.  If you opt for a direct capture video and the score rolls over 1 million, take a picture of the TV screen prior to the roll and right after the roll just to be on the safe side.

Understandable. I'd make sure to provide more proof than just a direct capture (show the actual console and tv hooked up and such at the end). I'm not too concerned about it though, as I don't see that happening as this game highly pisses me off lol

Looks like I won't have time to sit down and do a run this week, so I thought I'd help everyone out by sharing my notes on this game.

The key to big points is to take advantage of the fact that you get knocked all the way back to Act 6-1 when you die fighting against one of the final bosses. If you can basically no-death the game and die on purpose when you reach the end, you can add additional stages to your game and continue to rack up points.

Included are my recommended point racking locations for each level, along with a "safe" amount of time you'll need before moving on to finish a stage before the clock expires.

Hope this helps everyone, and good luck!

1-1:
Boxer/Spiderman combo at end
Need 5 sec to goal

2-1:
Spiderman at end (pit danger)
Need 5 sec to goal
--SAFER--
Spiderman/Knife combo after last ladder
Need 15 sec to goal

2-2:
Sprinter after last ladder, first reaper
Need 25 sec to goal

3-1:
Last bird
Stand below "bump" in end of green background
Jump backwards while attacking (makes bird reappear quicker)
Need 5 sec to goal

3-2:
Sprinter near fire wheel
Stand STILL above left edge of lower platform
Need 30 sec to goal

4-1:
Sprinter before last ladder
Need 25 sec to goal

4-2:
Birds/Bats at end of open bridge
Need 25 sec to goal

4-3:
Machine Gunner + 2 Kickers
Need 40 sec to goal

5-1:
First Roller (stand STILL)
Need 75 sec to goal

5-2:
Last Bird (stand STILL)
Need 5 sec to goal

5-3:
3 Sprinters right of 1up
Need 50 sec to goal

6-1:
Roller at jump&slash
2nd highest platform
Pace inside edge of green
Need 15 sec to goal

6-2:
Roller at end (stand STILL)
Need 15 sec to goal

6-3:
Triple Rollers by time freeze (use jump&slash until out of strength)
--AFTER--
Last rollers
Need 5 sec to goal

FINAL
IF 4+ lives remaining: Die in first battle (rack fireballs for as long as possible)
IF 3 lives remaining: Get to second battle, die (rack fireballs for as long as possible)
IF 2 lives remaining: Get to last battle, die (remove head/tail first)
IF 1 life remaining: Beat the game

Just wait until next week when we play Battletoads.  That one is bound to send a few people into a rage

Ouch lol.  I've never bloodied any knuckles playing my NES, but I've tossed some controllers.  Ninja Gaiden is a game that can make my blood boil a little bit, so I don't play it too often lol.

Can't you just farm points infinitely with the re-spawning enemies?  How would you prove that you weren't getting the extra lives?  Just curious.

You really can't, but it's easy to determine with the score and where a player takes their pic. Like, if they have 1 mil in the middle of stage 5, chances are, they're full of crap.

Edited my score post, new score: 714,700

If I made it to where I did with 2 more lives remaining, I'll roll the score and have over 1,000,000. I really gotta stop making stupid mistakes.

Hopefully I can get another run or 2 in tonight (and maybe some video now that I found a good capture program to record from my input device as ULEAD completely made it so you couldn't see the score and everything really fuzzy).

Finally got a chance to start up some strategy on this bad boy. I've got a pretty solid method up to the boss of 4 and after that I'm still working on a couple things. Ninja Gaiden!

First score guys.  Now, if anyone's like HOW'D YOU GET THAT SCORE ON THAT LEVEL, please remember that it was stated many pages ago that POINT STACKING was permitted because of the timer.  It's just a matter of knowing where to do it...
