I have a Cobra Triangle like that. No matter how hard I clean it, it just won't play. I guess some games (not many, but some) just get to that point.

i ended up fixing it i jsut took it apart then looked at the pins on the back where it was sodered and some of them were bent down so i bent them back up using a knife and they work perfect then i did it to a few other carts i had laying around that didnt work and they worked also you should try it

not sure what pins youre talking about in the game, do you mean coming through solder joints? if bending those has fixed your problem it is more likely just a bad solder joint, as bent legs on components dont make any difference since they dont have to slot into anything.. the reason they are bent is so that they dont press aganst the plastic casing.

I had a non working zelda that had a problem because (if I recall) its battery casing was touching against some of the pins on one of the EPROMs.  I made some space and it worked again.

So I think it is possible for capacitors, etc.. to be shorting other connections

Now I do have a non working GameBoy Color game (Mega Man something) that I cannot figure out how to fix.  And I have another GameBoy Color (Bionic Commando Elite Forces) game that always hangs the game when I go into a certain level.   So in my mind, NES games are just built better.

I just received a non working T2 yesterday in fact. I cleaned the shit out of it and it won't show any signs of working. This makes the 5th NES cart I have had that hasn't worked.

I hope this isn't a sign that nes games are starting to break down with age.

There are other systems with older carts (Atari, INTV, etc) that are not showing significant deterioration. NES shouldn't have any problems until at least 5-10 years after those and likely longer from advancements in chip manufacturing. Without knowing how the cart was handled you don't know if the chips were just fried from water or other damage.

Those older systems and arcades are starting to show problems with eproms so protos, test carts, and some unlicensed games are starting to reach the danger zone. Go buy a USB CopyNES to backup your protos before they die forever! (end blatant advertising)
