As many of you have noticed recently NintendoAge's server is slow, and at times down completely, this is due to having on average over 100 users on at any given time.

Dain has been working to remedy the situation, but he's a busy guy with a 40+ hour a week job and a pregnant wife, which means prepping for Baby Elijah, leaving him little time to look thru the mountains of code that runs behind the scenes here at NintendoAge and our sister site SegaAge. 

The best long term solution to our current situation is to replace the existing server with 2 servers, one for the database and one which will be the file server and the web server both.  Having two servers will greatly improve the performance issues that have recently impacted NintendoAge, but the new servers come at a greater cost, around $550 a month or so, for the server rental and the hosting costs. Dain is currently going back to the hosting company to obtain a new quote for the servers, since the last quote was done before Christmas.

After many discussions with the webmaster himself, he's finally agreed to let me post this publicly, I'm asking everyone who can to help NintendoAge in the first ever NA/SA Server fundraiser.  Our goal, and when I say our I mean NintendoAge, is to raise $6,000 so we have about one years worth of server cost saved up and we aren't struggling month to month. 

Anyone who donates can receive a NintendoAge donators icon, however anyone who donates at least $60 will receive a special server donator icon in addition to the donator icon.  Every year you continue to donate a minimum of $60 to NA, you will get a revamped server donator icon with the number of years of donation in it.  The icon will have a number with it representing that.  We are still working on the graphic for the server icon and more details to come.
