Well I'm a bit rusty, and I only had time for two games, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to play for score on the BEST NES GAME EVAR... so here you go - only got to 7-2 and missed a bunch of stuff, but managed  442,760:

Here are some tips for the young 'uns:

-once you've got firepower, shoot ALL rocks and rolling boulders.
-"ABS" - "always be shooting," looking for bonus items (rings are worth 2000 pts each) or bonus levels.
-Get ALL fruit, especially once you've got the flower multiplier for that level.
-Get the doll on EVERY level, INCLUDING the hidden ones.
-hidden egg pattern: fire power, red milk, ring, ring, ring, Master Higgins doll (1up), repeat (starting again with the red milk if you've already got your fire power). NOTE: pattern resets upon death and you can only have 8 men max in reserve.
-You'll get three free men from score, and that's IT, so you better get good at staying alive and hunting down those little Master Higgins dolls

Alright, I think that's it; good luck!

awesome score! but man there are a lot of secrets in this game, where and how do you find the dolls, the hidden eggs? hmm how long till you can reach it on that pattern?

the first 1-up you should get from an egg would be the 1st hidden egg on 1-4 (you have to get all the hidden eggs up until this point).

Why are you asking me?  I thought you said you could rape this game like it's your day job.....

(PS - contrary to what you may think, the fox-suit guy gives you a fami controller if he's in front of you when you deliver the kill shot - no ifs, ands, or buts! )

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

Even though contest's over I figure I'd post my score.
Was feeling sick and took the day off from work today, this is what came of it.

Had about 6 lives left when I got to 7-1.  As you can see they didn't last long.
Okay Morbis, beat that!

Is that a challenge?  I can do high 5's - low 6's when I'm on the top of my game, but it does take a little bit of steady play to get back into rhythm...

Sure.

I just squeaked by you on that one.  I love this game, definitely one of my favorites.  And, I have no qualms about trying for another high score if you feel like beating that one.  So yea, bring it on!
