I think the real question should be, once the two people who were willing to pay between 8-10K for a CIB SE have one, what will it be worth? I really think the price will go down a few thousand once that condition is satisfied.

I have a question about the Stadium Events. Is there much value difference between a CIB and a sealed one? What would you guys pay for a sealed Stadium Events? Obviously I am just curious because I have no idea where in hell to find a sealed Stadium Events.

Maybe when you wake up from your dream Rory :-).....honestly though I haven't been around collecting for TOO long....but I would imagine it would be VERY difficult to ever find one if one exits...

I do belive there might be a small posibility someone might own a sealed copy. Maybe even someone that posts on this site. Also they maybe had a avatar with it. mmmm.

I know that bronty owns one. What I'm asking is how much are they valued at? If I'm not mistaken he bought it last year for right around 3k. How much is that puppy worth now?

actually its worth what someone is willing to pay..Im not big on price setting myself. Stadium events like the rest of the games are going to sell what someone is willing to pay. At this point there are a handful of people who want a copy who would spend over 5 thousand so I would say a complete or sealed copy would sell for over 5 thousand. like Dain said once the people willing to pay thousands for it have one the price will come down unless they want multiple copies.

the last surprise at dinosaur peak box sold for over 400 dollars but a auction ended today for the box and game at barely over 400.00 so because the box alone sold for 400 that one time doesnt make it worth 400.00

I would probably pay $5,000 for a copy, but that would definitely be my upper limit, and it would have to be one of the last things I needed to complete my set.

"once that condition is satisfied" <<< somebody has a science background huh?

If two or three more CIB copies came on the market immediately, I totally agree that the price will soften a bit. If that doesn't happen though, then I don't think the next one is going for less. In the past six years there's been a CIB on ebay about every two years. Two years is a long time to wait and knowing you'll be waiting *another* two years to get a crack if you miss out on the current opportunity is going to weigh heavily on people. Kind of depends on how the economy goes in the next few years too I guess.

I read that some people thought that $2000 for a loose cart in mint condition, and $1000 for the manual in mint condition was fair?

Man, I must be missing something. When I sold my manual to portnoyd a few years ago, I got $150, and that was HIGH at the time. It was mint.

When I sold my cart (also mint) for over $300, that was also a little on the high side.

Couldn't have been more than 4 years ago.

Are you guys telling me that the price on this has jumped almost 7 fold on the cart and manual in four years?

Jesus.

Well..it's settled a bit since then, at least where loose carts are concerned. I'd say about $1400 is right for the cart in near-mint condition, and about $1000-$1200 would be right for the manual in near-mint condition. The box...I'd say there would be a couple that'd be willing to pay $1500+ for one of those in any condition, $2000+ if it's anything better than about 7.5/10.

seeing that a mint cib went to erik for an untold amount of money... lets just say it was $6,000 - $7,000 (which appears to be about the right guess), and if a mint cart is around $1,400 - $1,800 and a mint manual is around $1,300 - $1,700, that would leave the mint box at around $3,500 - $4,000. hot damn, that is an amazing price for a cardboard box! imagine finding a little 6-game case of sealed SEs in some ex woolworth employees attic! mmmmmm, back to reality... i will never own that box! haha

Well you also have to take into account there are what 30-40 or more carts known about, and they have been going for $1,200-$1,775 over the last year. On the book I only know of 7-10 max and I offered every one of those people $1,000 for their book before I got my CIB copy and everyone said "Holy S**T Really" and then turned me down flat, so I doubt you can get an SE book for even $1,200. The box, oh boy... I had a bounty out there to all the people I thought could get me or had connections who might be able to get me the box at $5,500 for it and GOT ZERO HITS on it. So let's say you got lucky and someone picked up a cart for $1,500 and Nick got drunk one night and sold his book to same person for $1,400 so now you are in for $2,900 and then what if a box came out of woodwork and you got it for my old bounty price that I was unsucsessful at getting one at of $5,500 that puts an assembled one together for $8,400. So I think the next one, if there is ever a next one, has to go for over $8,000. Oh and Seth I WISH I got it for $6,000 but $7,000 is certainly getting closer...

Yeah.....that's not happening

Does anybody have a Cart + Book copy besides me? I know Seth has the Book but no cart. Does anybody have a boxed copy but no Book? I'd love to have the Box but I'm not holding my breath. One day, I will own this game complete, though probably not anytime soon...after all, it has been 4 years since the last one popped up for sale (before this one).

So Erik, you paid more than $6000-7000? Goddamn.

Nick

Oh working on PAL and variants... etc... I'm over 180+ different USA only CIB Black Box now. Also have over 150 of the -UKV code CIB PAL games now... so having fun with that. Also you might notice me picking up random sealed games here and there. Working on my master collection list is proving to be very daunting when I have to list and grade all inserts etc for each game and variants etc... so when I have it sealed it's much easier to just put SEALED and move on... LOL Laziness prevails once again!

Seriously I have always thought this was a great reason to buy sealed... why pay for shipping three times (cart, box, book) when you can just buy it all in one and be done and get all the inserts to boot.

Cool to hear that you're enjoying pal & variant hunting...  are you ever going to do snes?   There's a lot of good stuff there too and hardly any variants thank god..

Maybe one day when I have more room, but I just don't have room for any other system collecting other than my true love the NES. As it is I don't have enough room anymore even for it. Hard to tell your G/F umn... yeah I know we just had this house built a year and a half ago but it's too small how do you feel about moving again... I need a bigger game room. Although I have already mentioned this 5 or 6 times so maybe someday.
