Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!
 
Oh what beautiful weather we have been having this springtime!
And it has inspired me to write another bimmy rhyme.
Welcome back your old friend Bimmy Allen Poe,
And not to be confused with my cousin Bimmy David Thoreau.
I hope everyone enjoyed the break week,
Because it is time to restart the action with a game that is pretty unique.
Hurry and grab a delicious snack that you like to gobble,
And then get back to your game room because it is time to play Bubble Bobble.
The game stars two brothers named Bub and Bob,
Who have had their girlfriends kidnapped by a horrible monster mob.
And to make matters worse, they’ve been turned into dinos by a crazed wizard.
Although, they do look a little funny as a tiny prehistoric lizard.
To get the girls back, you must lead Bub and Bob through Monster Land,
And to help you along the way, there will be many special items at hand.
To defeat the baddies you must trap them in a bubble,
But if you don’t burst it right away, you will run into trouble.
You see, if they break out on their own, they will be quite mad,
And being chased by an angry, purple whale is quite bad.
Along the way you can collect points by eating candy, veggies, and fruit,
And if you’re really lucky, you’ll discover some other awesome loot.
So plop down on your couch and get to fighting these evil ghouls!
Oh crap, I almost forgot, here are the rules:
 
 

• 1 player only
• Play until Game Over
• Take your picture on the Game Over screen (where it shows your password)
• You must start on the first level
• Highest score wins
• Participation: 100,000
• GENRE: Arcade

 
 
The contest ends Sunday, 5/29/16 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Got a fairly broken hand thanks to a "small" incident in the very wee hours of the morning today.

Uh-oh! Hope it heals up nice, what the hell happened?
 

The basic. You wake up grumpy, on your first day of your red days at 05:30 am, it is cold and a bit rainy but you put on your running gear and go for run your weekly 5K.
On the way back a ruffian approached me, said he had a knife and that I should go with him or he would hurt me.
After that all I remember is a blur and a cop prying me away from his downed, unconscious body so I would stop punching the guy. And I broke my left hand while punching his face...

Damn Bea, that's crazy! I'm glad you're okay and that you didn't get hurt worse than just an injured hand. The guy certainly deserved to have his ass beat.

Always felt more natural during the few years I practised boxing and fencing.

The sad part will be going two weeks without playing videogames so my hand heals properly.

Wow, sorry to hear that happened, Bea! Hope you have a speedy recovery and that guy gets what he deserves.

Excited to be back from the bye week! I've never played Bubble Bobble, so we'll see how it goes.

Is the game easy to beat? How long does it take?

Yes it is generally pretty with a handful of stages being a pain in the ass......it would say from start to finish with no game overs it takes around 2 hours (could be a little off though).

Put on music when you play though because the game just repeats the same 10 second loop over and over.

 

Alright I am going to do more score updates throughout the week (Yeah I said that last time to).

I could not get further than this level for the life of me on multiple occassions......I really wanted to beat the game but couldn't do it in the timeframe.

I wish I'd ordered this. It's emulator time again.

At least I have Battletoads for next week. I can breeze through the first six levels and then it's impossible.

Damn! I should have taken a picture of my lazy ass score! Way better than that 😋 I'd also like to add that level 12 and 22 can go fuck themselves !

Nice of you to get a 250k on a first attempt. I got my first qualifying score after a few impatient fly all over the place runs.
