True. I just... I dunno, I just came from PS4 where I bought all my games digital, and it feels fake to me. I know that's silly... technically speaking it's all just little computers holding onto some bits of info containing a save state. Part of playing console games for me is getting some relaxing time away from the computer, on which I spend the majority of my day working, staring at this one screen. I'm easily distracted on the computer, too. I find that if I play on the TV, I'll actually sit and enjoy myself much more. It's the little things.

Oh I get what you're saying.

I like collecting NES carts. There are still plenty of affordable and fun NES games, and that's my favorite console. SNES collecting is just too expensive so I resort to emulation.

You could look into getting a SNES flash cart as a compromise.

I've been keeping an eye on RetroUSB for theirs to come back in stock. I'm heavily considering it!

EDIT: Fuck this entire ice themed world. You have to get through a ridiculous gauntlet of levels before you can even save your game again!

I consider myself pretty good at dkc. I never have to worry about lives . I always have like  60+.

i think maybe i could beat the game straight through if i didnt die in under an hour, but 100 percent is something else. Just beat the game last night casually. And was closer to 2 hours than 1. And i wasnt close to 100 percent

If no-one gets remotely close I may bump it up to 70 or 80.  I want the bonus point to be an extra challenge for the master players to chase.

Yeah you are a champ if you can do 100 percent in an hour.

Im close enough where ill try and go back to 100 percent this. Might as well since percentage is first before time.

Being this was my first attempt just from memory and i got it beat with completion of 3/4 of it , i know i can do better

I finally beat Elevator Antics and reached the next save point.

Yeah I'm doing terrible in terms of percentage. I won't even reach 50% completion. That's okay. I just want to play through the game again.

I'm definitely planning to get 101% in under an hour on this (once I get a working cart again). With a whole month to get it done, I'm sure I can do it. Love me some challenge, especially on a game I love.

Tom can get 47:00, so I figure a 25% margin of error seemed reasonable. If he sees this perhaps he can chime in

Or I guess I could not be a lazy dick and just ask him

DKC3 was 103% unless maybe you're referring to the GBA version, I'm not sure if they upped the percentage on that version.

Lol. Yeah, you have to enter a code to unlock it. xD

Copy pasta...

At the game select screen, highlight the slot you wish to load and press L, R, R, L, R, R, L, R, L, R. A screen will appear where you can enter one of the following codes:

  • ASAVE -- Auto-saves after each completed level
  • LIVES -- Grants 50 lives
  • MERRY -- During the bonus levels you will hear a Christmas tune, the star are bells, and the bananas are blue presents
  • MUSIC -- Dixie Kong's Music Test
  • COLOR -- Dixie's outfit will be purple and Kiddy's will be green
  • HARDR -- Make the game more difficult
  • TUFST -- No halfway barrels
  • ERASE -- Erases time records

I knew you could input codes but for some reason I never knew about a hard mode. Wow. I gotta try this now.

Donkey Kong Country - 1:41 100%

I too missed that last 1% for some reason. This time is horrible for me, I usually get it done in around 1:20. I'll be playing this one again before the end of the month.

DKC - 1:43, 101%

Might as well throw something out there early. This run felt extremely sloppy. I'm certain I can do it a lot faster, but 60 mins seems really difficult.

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

-
Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

I just wanted to beat the game so here it is. I'm amazed at all these people who can beat the game 100% in under two hours.

I am going to pop this in before the end of the month. Only expecting to clear the game in the 50s. I cannot find a ton of stuff but still enjoy it.

went ahead and updated. I learned you can access the secret if you miss it still. I was doing it wrong.

Under 1 hour is freaking hard. Its doable. But you need to be a semi speed runner. Cant afford deaths or backtracking

Ugh, I may end up having to play on an emulator. I can't find a functioning copy anywhere for some reason. Why did mine have to die!? D:

You sure it's dead?  I lost my Ogre Battle saves recently, but it appears to have been a one-time thing (perhaps I bumped the console while it was saving or something)
