Going forward the competition will have two games running at a time.  They are separate leaderboards, with their own points awarded.  You can compete in one or the other, or both.

This appears to trip people up so I'm posting it again:  If you post an updated score please re-use your original post, or create a new one and remove your old score.  That will make my life easier sorting things out.

April Game #1: Killer Instinct

Rules
  • Goal -> Progress.  If you defeat Eyedol, you may start another loop and continue.  Three loops is the maximum.
  • Tiebreaker -> High Score (Combos)
  • Bonus Point -> One per each loop completed
  • All settings should be the default
  • Play until you lose a match and then let the timer expire so you return to the main menu.
  • Please submit a pic of the high score screen that appears if you wait long enough at the title screen, or press select and left at the title screen.  You must win several fights in order to crack the high scores.  There is a screen that will display your winning streak, and one for your combo high score.
April Game #2: Total Carnage
Rules

  • Goal -> High Score
  • Tiebreaker -> n/a
  • Bonus Point -> Beat the game
  • Play a 1P Game.  The 2nd controller port is not allowed to be used
  • Play until game over or you clear the game.  You can get your score from the name entry screen at that point

Saving. Wasn't very good at Killer Instinct and never played Total Carnage. Excited to play both though!

Killer Instinct - Win Streak 2

I couldn't get any better than a 2 game winning streak in Killer Instinct and this was the only picture I was able to snap of this run.  I wasn't fast enough on the progression screen to get a picture of that.  If this doesn't count, then oh well.  I've discovered that I don't like this game.

Total Carnage: 93,171

Boy does my left thumb hurt after playing this    Wish I hadn't waited until the final day to play this because I really like Total Carnage.

Stage 5 (Streak: 04)
Combo High Score: 6000. No ways to perform long enough combo to enter the high score screen and take a picture, however, in the 10500.points of the last lost fight against Glacius (see screen shot), 6000 were from a 4 hits combo made with holdFP, BK 2sec, FW+releaseFP (Jaguar move), then FK.
Played Orchid. Defeated in order: Cinder, Sabrewulf, Thunder. Orchid. Lost to Glacius.
The victory streak is still too short to be displayed on high score screen to take a picture.
Updated: Thursday (still Wednesday in the US), April 13th 2017.

***

Stage 5 (Streak: 04)
Combo High Score: none. No ways to perform long combos playing with a keyboard so far.
Played Orchid. Defeated in order: Jago, Cinder, Sabrewulf, Thunder. Lost to Combo.
The victory streak is still too short to be displayed on high score screen to take a picture.
Updated: Sunday, April 9th 2017.

***

Personal Best: Reached Stage 4

First pathetic result posted just to break the ice. I'll post a real pic when proposing something better.
First attempt with Sabrewulf. Defeated in order: Riptor, Glacius, Sabrewulf. Lost to Thunder.
Reached the same stage also with Orchid yesterday.

****

Me. In case I will have the time for a couple of attempt to KI this month.
Do not rely too much on it, but if I can use an emulator, maybe I can find a way to play.
And maybe few others will play too, like in SFII last year, this kind of game is quick.

Edit: score updates.

Assuming default difficulty for KI?

-------------------------
Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

-
Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

Unsure,  but it will probably be the highest difficulty unless it is completely broken in or too frustrating

I had a nasty surprise when I tried playing Total Carnage on BSNES emulator. The emulator now randomly freezes and I have to hit ctrl-alt-delete to unfreeze. At first I thought ti was an issue with Total Carnage but it happens with any game.

Donkey Kong Country played fine earlier last month, so it must be a recent update. I suspect that it's the latest Intel graphics driver. I'm using Windows 10, btw. This really sucks.

EDIT: It seems that AVAST is the culprit. Uninstalling and then installing Avira seems to have fixed the problem.

Alright, Sunday early morning. Ok, after 20 years I touched this game again, and remember nothing!
I have to say I now remember why I liked SFII way better, but hey, SFII Turbo month it is not now.
Played a quick test game. Used the default Jago. No special moves, no combos. I wish I had the game manual now.
If someone has a manual in .pdf or pictures of it, please share. Even a text version of it I think would help out people.
However, played one single attempt, and got to the third stage using only fierce punches and kicks, jumping and covering, then lost to the boxer. I have no clue on how to see the high score afterwards, it get back to the main screen.
To play using the keyboard doesn't help (wish I had a joypad), however the game should overall be quite easier than SFII, IIRC from so long ago, so I expect more players (likely better than I am) to actually finish up the game (in a single credit), this maybe also on max difficulty. I was able to win this game when I had it on the SNES, of course using a proper joypad and knowing about special moves, combos and breakers (and anyways I would rather play SFII); I definitely doubt that I would to do it now. Also, I don't know if I'll have time to play, do not rely on it, but just for the sake of it I could post a score this month. Last note: I remember kind of liking the graphics of this game back then, and disliking the ones of Mortal Kombat. Now I kind of dislike both: it still looks better than MK to me, but while SFII still appealing to look at to me, looking at this game lost any charme for me by now. However, I always ranked SFII higher, under any point of view, anyways.

What did you watch that made it seem not too bad?
Me and my cousin who is a mortal kombat, and sf master played some KI this weekend on default.  KI is hard as shit. I doubt i get by 2 people on maximum. He couldnt even get passed 4-5 people and hes played the game some before.

If its hardest difficulty ill probably just throw up a participation snd wait for next month. I got second in the street fighter comp last year but Killer instinct is a different beast.

After watching and playing for an hour or two frustratingly i dont see why everyone likes this one personally. Its brutally hard to the point of unfair

to the poster "user " above. sf II is waaaaaaay easier than KI. Its not evfn close. KI by the 3rd match on default becomes much harder.

Yeah, KI on hardest difficulty is insane. I think it should be default difficulty (four stars.) This gives you a character ending, so it's sort of the official setting. Six stars is harder than the arcade game.

Also losing health only once means you have to supreme victory everyone? I only did that once on default difficulty the whole hour or two i played. Cousin did it once too.

i get it for scoring, but on max difficulty o doubt i csn even get to the second person.

I am not going to argue based on memories from like 20 years ago.
I remember Bison being a tougher guy than the end boss in KI. Actually, to be honest, I think myself that seeing all endings in SFII on max difficulty was the best achievement I had in gaming. This includes using continues for most of the characters.
No matter how much I played SFII, I cannot guarantee 10 perfects on a game. In KI the AI is different, from what I remember, and just spamming working moves you get results. And, if you and your cousin are master on MK and SFII, of course those seem easier to you guys than this other one, in which you guys are less trained.
Again, all this is from so long ago, so I could be wrong. However, if I have to bet two cents on me defeating with a single crediting one of them on max difficulty, given a single attempt in a tournament day, I pick KI. It will not happen, but defeating Bison on the first attempt (ie without continues) on max difficulty is even less likely for me imo.
All this being said, please Brock do NOT let my opinions influence your decisions for the rules; I see a strong majority preferring 4 stars, and so I think it is fair to say that what players want is that. So, either you keep your position because you wish to, or you listen to them, not to me.

My highest score so far on KI is 80k. I got a combo breaker which is worth 50k, and then some combos of my own. Still died on the first guy though.

Kept playing for fun after losing my health once, and noticed that getting to the second guy reset my score! Seems that this will happen on max stars if you don't get supreme victory?
