If you really want to know, just open it up. It will take all of ten seconds to figure it out after having a look at the board.

You are going to have to take a pic of the guts of the cart to know for sure if it's a prototype. Can't really tell by the cart plastic if it's a proto or not (in most cases).

Honestly, like MrMark said, just open the game and find out. I really don't understand the point of making a thread about this when all the facts (including the simplest one) have not been uncovered.

Maybe everyone should read the whole post before they comment. He said he does not have the game yet and will check when he gets it.

We did read the initial post. Why start a thread then if the thing is not open? We're all going to say it needs to be opened, LOL

Okay everybody, it came in the mail today. I ripped open the package and first thing I noticed was security screws on the back. Not what I was hoping to see... but I thought there might still be a chance. I opened it up and compared it with my other copy of Golf. This is what I saw:  So... the end result... NOT a proto.  Oh well, theres always next time, thanks everyone for playing the "Is it a Proto"? game.

Protos with security screws are far from uncommon, so for future reference you shouldn't get gun shy over something like that.

^^ ah, I see... good to know. I do hope to find a proto someday, I think it would be great to own a unique piece of gaming history.

At least Paul could possibly have another crappy cart to add to his collection!

Check out this really awesome WTB thread that I found, I heard this guy wants games at the cheapest rate possible!  Now on the look out for Unlicensed NES!
