I cant seem to best my old score, just gonna cross my fingers and hope I stay in the top 10. Pretty satisfied with my performance being that when I started playing this game I couldn't get past the first mini-boss volcano thing.

We are sticking with the NES version this week just in case there are any differences to the PSP version that could put that one at an advantage or disadvantage to the NES version.

And I also think Bimmy should add some more shmups in the upcoming games list, because Gradius is the ONLY shmup I saw in there (correct me if I'm wrong).
Perhaps a Compile (TGL, Zanac) or Toaplan (Sky Shark! Great music!) shooter would be great, or even Burai Fighter.

I'm kind of hoping for The Punisher in the shooter category myself, but I'm not sure how many others would be into it

I'd be all for Sky Kid, too, as a change of pace. Don't know how well received that game is, though; I could be in the minority of people who actually enjoy playing it.

PS: AWESOME SCORES, everyone! I haven't had any time to practice this week (work is killing me); I have only made it to the mother-and-child mini boss on the Moai stage one time. I can't seem to consistently make it through the Moai stage at all. Double damn!

The Shoot 'Em Up category is more than just shoot 'em ups. It also covers shooters, which is why Alien Syndrome and NARC are on the list. There will be more shoot 'em ups this year, I just haven't picked any out yet.

If you guys would like to see some specific games being played in the contest, I would suggest you to work out some rules for said games and send your suggestions to Bimmy or myself. Any good suggestions will be considered, and Bimmy will take the final decision as if the game will be played or not, and when.

I know how you feel bud. I never played this before, and after practicing through the week, I can consistently get to stage three without dying, but always blow it getting past the heads. When I die once it's pretty much the end. I can't really do anything on stage three without the power ups.

Made it to the mother-and-child mini boss for the second time today, and I almost made it past (got to the part where the screen starts moving again), but I lost my forcefield and got hit by one of the children. F*#&.
