This gets my vote for the funniest post in the history of NA.  Thoughts?

Something about coming once a year and down a wrong hole springs to mind...

Enjoy the PP sir

I use my PP quite often, definitely worth having one.

Kiddo's patched link doesn't work? It worked for me.

BTW, in hindsight, I shouldn't have been lazy on spelling out PowerPak. LOL

Yes! I didn't realize it was an smc file. I thought I had to patch it manually. Now that I've got this awesome game going, does anyone know how the power ups work? I get the presents and randomly have things happening. I could not find a run down of what they do, though

Also been finding out more about the crazy items. If anyone can add to this list it'd be great:

1. Ball Switcher: This icon seems to be the hardest to get, like the lightning item in Super Mario Kart. It randomly switches all four balls. Can turn what looks like a failure round to one of sweet victory

2. Poison Stroke: Makes opponents' very next shot go very short, even on POW 100

3. Sun: Makes it sunny (meh)

4. Wind Blower One: Gust of wind sends your rivals' balls (tell me I just didn't say that) a ways away. Could potentially lead to O.B. (heh heh heh)

5. Wind Blower Two: Makes the wind MPH speed increase (meh)

6. Mole: Takes rival's next shot back to original position (ouch! love this evil powerup)

7. Fast Shot: Not confirmed, but seems to send your ball at speed of light if you hit the desired button to activate it.

8. Control Shot: Love this one! You can control the ball by working the D-Pad. Unconfirmed: you can control others' shot if they get this icon. I once was able to control CPU ball's shot when he got this icon... weird. So, user and rivals can control? Crazy...

9. Shot Stop: By pressing B, you stop your shot short at any desired time. Can be quite useful

10. Ink: Anyone know what this does? I never figured it out. I'd guess in World 2 it allows you to pass safely through the ink spills? Dunno.

11. Anvil: Anyone know this one? I haven't been able to figure out its purpose. I know it flashes for all opponents' next shot, but I haven't been able to ever employ it. Can anyone solve this mystery?

12. ? That's all the icons I can recall off the top of my head. There may be others I'm missing. Feel free to contribute to this list in any shape or form.

Oh, hey!

I was gonna make my first post at the Introductory forum like normal, but then I found this thread!

Hi, folks, I'm the Kiddo that's being talked about in this very thread, lol.

I tend to work on researching and documenting Satellaview ROMs, of which "Golf Daisuki! O.B. Club" is among.

I keep a blog up at Satellablog;

http://superfamicom.org/blog/...

The last few posts have some recent new ROM findings. If anyone wants to try these on a Powerpak as well, you may feel free to ask me about that.
More importantly, though, I'd sure like help looking for Satellaview things! Whether money or connections, any new Satellaview ROM or Soundlink audio piece tends to be an interesting find, whether in gameplay, technical info, or history.

Also for you Powerpak users, I must vouch for Mottzilla's last BS Zelda Lite build, which I have tested myself to run on real SNES hardware. (Albeit on a SFC Neo Myth, but that's nitpicking!)
An update on this with some bugfixes should be coming soon, by the way.

not to go off topic, but I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that slang is extremely obnoxious. Parents use it a lot and it's always irritated me.

I don't have a PP but a person doesn't need one to be strong... Or are we still talking about the Power Pak here?

I enjoyed this thought I would share. If anyone has the magazine that was used in this article maybe they could do up some nice high resolution scans please.

Try PMing Steve (The TC/OP). It's his website so he may have the magazine, assuming he didn't find the scans elsewhere.

Is this a game that would require a lot of rewiring to make a repro?

I know this is an old Thread, but I guess that the best unreleased prototype (or press release) of a SFC/SNES game is Rushing Beat. See the Magazine scans below. To me, the prototype version looks better than the final commercial release...go figure:

Is it possible to play BS games on a flashcart like the EverDrive or Power Pak?

It should be possible to play it on an SD2SNES, as it has some Satellaview support.

Yes BS games work on the SD2SNES, with the BS bios. There is some games/roms with minor hacks that allow them to work without the BS bios, OB Golf is one that I have used in the past on the flash cart from Tototek and SNES PowerPak.

Strange SHVC-4P5B-01 board. Doesn't boot up for me in my SNES. Don't really know what the dip switches are for.

I'll probably sell it as I have no use for a game I can't play.

^ More info about that particular PCB type in this thread:
http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...

Any idea what game it is? It probably doesn't boot because of the dipswitches - it's highly unlikely that they're supposed to be set to off for every single switch. Proto boards would include an instruction sheet but it's doubtful there's a scan on the net for that model PCB to fix the settings. Trying random combos could cause damage. The best solution would be send it to someone experienced to dump the chips and examine the contents.

The position of the dip switches shouldn't really matter.

First question, did you put it in the correct way (i.e. chips towards the back of the SNES)?

Yeah, I contacted and checked and it was being tested properly. The EPROMs were apparently uncovered prior to the addition of electrical tape so data corruption is also a possibility. Too bad that there is so little documentation out there about this particular board. It must have been replaced pretty quickly by (presumably) the 4PV5B-01 board.

The next step would be to label the chip order, and put them on a standard 4PV5B-01 board. The 4P5B-01 board is indeed an obscure one.
