I actually stumbled across the Ebay sell of Stadium Event @ 13k and was pretty floored. Even though this game is hard to find, don't see any significance like say comics. Same type of money will get you a nice mid grade Amazing Fantasy 15 (1st Spider-man appearance) or a mid grade restored Batman #1 and so on. I know everyone collects their own thing, but besides rarity there isn't anything else that this game has going for it. I sum this up as infamous.

Rarity being the only thing going for it sounds pretty good to me.

I think NES games are just a form of currency now. What ever happened to the joy of collecting?
It seems like a lot of people now are getting into NES collecting just to get the rare games and then throw them on eBay and make a quick buck. Just think of all the people that us NES collectors are gonna have to rival against now. There's gonna be a lot more people out there who are going to hit up all the pawn shops, used game stores, etc, for the sole purpose of finding "rare" games to throw on eBay for money. I just think it's an invasion of the purity of the NES community. Sure, all collectors will sell some of their stuff eventually, but I just think it's wrong that people who have never even played an NES (or have no interest in it anymore) are buying these games as a way of getting money.

The joy of collecting is alive and well. I never want to sell my stuff. Game hunting is much too fun.

Not all of us will pay 13k for a SE, as much as I want one it isn't worth more than 1,000 to me

It's a perpetual hype machine, every time one sells for some astronomical amount of money, it brings the demand for it up. The reality is, whether there was a recall or not, there is no way Nintendo would have manufactured less than a few hundred of these at the very least as it simply wouldn't have been financially lucrative otherwise. I think that as it becomes more and more known to the common person, we will see a larger amount of them pop up over the years. Not enough to fully meet the demand necessarily but certainly enough that one will be able to be had for under a thousand dollars again one day. The fact that MRN's copy and the CIB that Angel sold on ebay both popped up in a relatively close time frame indicate to me this is going to start happening sooner or later.

Just because 2 showed up in a few months, doesn't mean anything. We could go on a 10 year dry spell

The only way one of these is going to be readily found for under 1,000 CIB is if someone finds a pallet of these.

Yet another one...cart only this time though.

I would be bidding on it, but I bet that a bunch of people out there that saw lace_thong's auction are going to drive the price up. I'll put a few bids in, but I doubt I'll win it.

That's a pretty biased statement. Collectors of Spider-Man would want to get their hands on the rarest Spider-Man comics, fans of the NES would want the rarest NES game. I doubt all super heroes' first appearances were pure gold, yet people collect it anyways.

My opinion on the whole current SE situation is that it's a good thing for demand. Seeing the recent auction, it will probably inspire non-collectors to find theirs.

Which means that the price goes down for everybody. This could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.

Well, for some people, it's borderline impossible to even have to opportunity to get a Stadium Events, much less buy one.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

Well they can't be to serious because Ant's PAL CIB is sitting there for $6500 OBO and noone has hit the BIN????I would figure if i was in the market for a PAL SE it seems like a real good deal compared to the other 2.

I don't think any of the PAL bids are serious. There's just no way someone would spend 6k+ and not do ANY research. I mean, look how obviously different the manual is! Isn't a CIB PAL copy worh around $400-500?

its weird seeing your game up on someone else's auction

WTB Cdn sealed black boxes, sealed Cdn first party titles.    I.e. the "mattel" Cdn boxes with both french and english.   Mainly black boxes, zelda, link, and tyson, but let me know what you have.    I am interested in anything I don't already have!

I'm talking to this guy through texts right now... He said that the CIB Stadium Events that I "have" is worth $75-$100, but he'll give me $50 cash right now.
