Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  Thanksgiving Week is finally upon us and it is sure to be a fun week for many people (and for the record, Thanksgiving is in November, not October you Canuckleheads ).  What’s not to love about Thanksgiving?  It’s a day filled with being with family, baking a turkey (just don’t baste it too many times or you will become a masterbaster!), watching football, drinking beer, eating lots of delicious food, and being thankful that this week’s game is Track & Field 2.  Yeah, yeah, I hear you all groaning out there…the dreaded sports game.  Pilgrim Bimmy, you say, why couldn’t it have been a football game this week?  Thanksgiving is a day filled with football.  Well, you see, Pilgrim Bimmy wasn’t thinking too well when he made the schedule and decided to schedule a football game earlier in the year.  Perhaps next year he will choose more wisely.  However, this week is your chance to become an Olympic star!  And how do you do that, you say?  With these simple rules:

  • Choose Training Mode
  • 1 player only
  • Start with Fencing.  You may not start with any other event
  • Play until Game Over
  • The best way to capture your score is to take your picture right as your last attempt ends.  To secure a score, it is a good idea to take a picture between attempts in each event.  You cannot see your score when you get a Game Over.  Be quick with your pictures.
  • Highest score wins
  • GENRE: Sports

The contest ends Sunday, 11/30/14 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Also, your old pal Pilgrim Bimmy is going to open his cornucopia of games next Sunday and give away a free game. All you have to do this week is submit a score and you will be entered into a chance to win a free game

At first, I didn't want to play this because I kinda hate the game, but then I saw the random prize. *sigh*, guess I gotta suffer through this. The first T&F was way better

I've always been a big fan of Gold Medal Challenge since I grew up with that one but this one looks promising

I think I'm going to need to read some instructions online

Fiddled with the fencing for 5 minutes last night... I have a feeling this week is going to go to the person that can actually even finish all of the events

Honestly I will be impressed by anyone who can get as far as the Diving event. I could never button mash fast enough for the Triple Jump or Swimming events.

I can't beat Triple Jump, same problem I am not good at button mashing. Took me forever to figure out what to do.

Anyone know any good strategies for the horizontal bar event? For example how to land the landing? Haha

I put in a couple of hours yesterday too. I'm really afraid I'm gonna break my controller!

I was able to clear each event a couple of times each, so it's a matter of putting it all together for me. And making sure my arm doesn't fall off.

Got past the triple jump last night, but I'm going to need to look up the controls for swimming... no idea what was going on

Luckily, I have the manual and had to look up everything but if all else fails, always be mashing A button lol.

I haven't quite figured out swimming myself. I got through it by straight up button mashing both A and B. That one in particular hurts!

I've found that mashing both A and B for swimming is the best tactic as well.

That one is by far the most intense button mashing event as well, followed by the hurdles. Mainly because those two are a much longer duration of mashing.

That's how I ended up actually swimming, but I was playing without sounds, so there must be some cue to jump off the blocks inthe first place

There is definitely a cue for when to go so I would recommend the sound on haha

So it seems to me that the triple jump only lets me win when it wants to. It also seems the the events are either easy or hard, there is no medium.

I can't believe the pole vault tripped me up.

I kept missing the slot for the pole!

You have to press B a little later than you would initially want to.

I've found that pressing B whenever the blue part of the pole is about to hit the mat is the best time
