Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the weekly contests.  This week's game is a sports game.  Yep, the dreaded sports game.  But those of you who are baseball enthusiasts should be happy with the game this week.  And with the 8th week game selection of the 2014 Weekly Contests, bimmy_lee proudly selects RBI Baseball.  Here are the rules:

• 1 player only
• Choose whichever team you want
• Play against whichever team you want
• You must play a whole game
• Take your picture after the game ends on the screen that looks like a newspaper
• Your score will be the differential between your score and the computer’s score
• Ex: You 7 CPU 2 = score of 5
• Ex: You 2 CPU 7 = score of -5
• Greatest differential between your score and the computer wins.  A positive score takes preference over a negative score
• GENRE: Sports

The contest ends Sunday, 3/30/14 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Forgot to mention in the rules that you can use either the unlicensed or licensed version of this game since they are identical.

Thankfully this game has a mercy rule as I suck really bad at it!

That mercy rule can limit the high scores though. Start an inning at 9 runs ahead, then you have to score as many as possible the next time you score as the 10 run rule will kick in unless the computer scores. I used to play this a ton with my brothers so I'm looking forward to posting this week. I tend to pick Detroit or American depending on how I'm feeling. Can usually win by 10 runs in the 5th inning or so.

Interesting side contest idea: who can win by 10 or more runs in the fewest innings? If its a tie in the same inning, it goes by highest score. If both are tied, it goes by who posted the tie score first. Something to think about.

A baseball game... Yeesh! I usually suck at these, and I tend to shut the game off at the 5th inning or so. The only one that I "appreciate" (which means I'll usually shut it off at the 7th inning or so) is Base Wars

I love rbi baseball! I'll give it a shot this week.

+19 high scoring affair

I agree with space jockey that the 10 run rule will mess with this contest. I had to let the other team score a couple times so I could win by more than 10. Great game, I love sports weeks!

Update 23. Love RBI baseball as well. Played this one alot growing up. Might try later on this week and see if I can improve the score but I'll post this just in case.

Found some old pics from 10 years ago of me winning on RBI baseball by 20+ scores, you guy are in for a challenge this week.

I can't even fathom winning by 20 runs in RBI... this is gonna be fun trying!

So you are allow both the national and American team as an option? I'd be curious what the highest non all star team would be. Maybe a challenge without those teams?

A most total runs contest would be fun. Yeah, you'd have to let the computer score to keep it under 10 runs, but that would be fun.

It would kind of suck to let the computer keep scoring though.

Actually, it doesn't look like a baseball game I'd hate. This one is kinda fun

The Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium (true R.B.I. Baseball by Namco(t) in Japan, not Tengen's second and third sequel that were released in North America) are my favorite baseball games.  Really wish I didn't give up that damn home run in the second inning.  Oh well.  I rocked the sixth inning, almost doubling my score.
