This game just now went for $46 dollars on ebay. Why this is when there is a listing for the same game in the same shape for $30 buy it now and another $35 or best offer shocks me. Why is this auction going for so much!? Are people stupid? Are people just not looking across ebay at all? This kind of makes me a little mad. lol. Why did this game go for $46 when the game is worth around $30?

Shill/troll bidding.

My son... gives me Helpful Nintendo Hints that are far too complex for the adult mind to comprehend. Here's a verbatim example: "OK, there's Ganon and miniature Ganon and there's these things like jelly beans and the miniature Ganon is more powerfuller, because when you touch him the flying eagles come down and the octopus shoots red rocks and the swamp takes longer." And the hell of it is, I know he's right. - Dave Barry

I thought of that, also. This seems too weird to be true.

Eh, I accidentally bid a CIB copy of DKC2 up to $42 once when it really should have been in the twenties. I paid it of course. Sometimes some of us get drunk before we bid I guess.

It is a pretty damn good game, easily worth $46.

Maybe all the hype over Majora's Mask has people going cuckoo for Zelda games.

Who knows. There may come a day when we look back on this thread and think, man, I would've gladly paid $46 for this game instead of $100+

Nintendo is amazing. They re-release a game made 15 years ago with better graphics and gameplay and everyone will buy the crap out of it. I will be one of them. You roped me in Nintendo... I hope you're happy!

Lots of times auctions just go for more than BINs because either people get competitive or don't want to take the time to look for more listings. If you're not very adept at using eBay, sometimes it's easier to just pick one listing and plan to win. I know it seems irrational, but it's just a different valuation of the tradeoff between money and time/effort/knowledge to find another one. Auction psychology on common items can be weird.

It could also just be a new member...his bidding activity is only 23% with that seller, and he won an item from a different seller. Definitely possible shill, but also possible not...this time.

I usually suspect some sort of foul play (e.g., shill bidding) when an auction closes at an abnormally high bid. Then again, we're in the midst of a heavy collector's boom, and as we welcome more clueless spenders into the fray, we can expect them to drop exorbitant amounts of money for cartridges most of us got at a bargain. A few years ago, I purchased A Link to the Past online for about $10, manual and map included. I had seen it climb to the $20 mark, but $46 seems a bit too high. The game itself is worth the money, no doubt about it, but given that copies have been selling for less, I would hold out until I found one at a lower price. Also, I'm usually O.K. with purchasing a Player's Choice edition or even "Assembled in Mexico" variant if I can find one for less.

I'm seeing 0 feedback, so I can only assume this is a shill/troll.

I'm betting a LOT of times when people claim shills they're wrong. It's pretty easy to get into bidding wars once you've bid on a game. And if someone doesn't know ebay very well and just wanted that game, or maybe the game's for their husbands birthday for example, then they may keep raising their bid, or just put down $45.

What Ozzy98 said...zero feedback does not equal shill, often.

People get caught in the moment...and maybe a newer collectors. That game is so popular it can draw a lot of attention from non-collector types. Just my thoughts.

Could be due to varying shipping rates... Ive done this before, being from Canada.

Sometimes a BIN for 30$ may be quoting me as a Canadian buyer 25$ to ship, where the auction may have been a 10$ shipping rate to Canada. Just a thought. I didn't actually look at the link.

It can also depend on seller feedback, better description, other listings (like maybe the buyer is planning on purchasing multiple games from that seller to combine shipping), among other things that have been mentioned. $46 is pretty high for it, but it doesn't surprise me at all. I do auctions for all of my items for this very reason and many times they go way over the normal selling price.

This pretty much says that you shouldn't take eBay auctions as serious anymore.
