Holy F I suck at this game.
It is going to take me a while to get some real scores on this one.
At least I met the min for participation...only because I could not get past the first level and used all my guys on killing Zombies..

So I'm cool to use an emulator for this? I'd like to participate, but currently don't own a copy of the game.

Just a quick run through before I go to bed. Didn't even complete the first level haha. It's a bit harder then I remember. I did play the snes one more, so I'll give it a few more tries tomorrow and see if I can get my groove back.

A pity that this one won't be valid because my name isn't n the screen.
Oh well, I shall hook up the nes this week again if I have time.
Edit:
Also, update the rules to make sure that the infinite point loop at stage two can't be used. There's a 1,000 point item and an extra life at the first part of stage 2.

Jesus. I can't get past the first half of stage 1. That score is just insane for this game.

I made to stage 6 run 02 with the torch on that one. I was aiming for points on that particular run, and I ended getting a game over while trying to farm points from red arremers there.
Wish me luck to find time to hook my NES this week to update that score.

This is a cool contest, and I will try my hand at it!

However, I would suggest you ban emulators since they can do things the real hardware can't. Save states, perhaps? That, or make two separate groups, emulators and hardware.

Well, the contest is mainly based on honor, so if someone plays with an emulator, he's not supposed to use save states when attempting a score. That's as simple as this.

Also, I don't know what to think about farming points in this particular contest. I'd like to hear thoughts from other players on this.

The only possible point for farming in this game is at the beginning of stage 2, with the extra life and the 5,000 points item. Collect the extra life, get the 5,000 points, kill Arthur, rinse and repeat.
Everywhere else, it should be allowed, since you have a time limit, and more often than not you end up dying when trying to farm, being overwhelmed by enemies.

Yeah I was kinda curious how emulators were going to work with the whole save state stuff. I've beaten the game using save state, and that's the only way I've beaten the NES version. I wouldn't do it in a contest regarding points, but who's to know if anyone did really. Im glad you allow it though so I can participate.

I'm stupid, I forgot there was a timer in this game.

Well, I normally don't participate anymore, but GNG is one of my favorite games of all time. Here we go:

PS - I had to take a few since photographing the older projection TV I'm playing on is a royal bitch.

You have to look pretty close, but my name is on the sheet of paper. Had to use a regular pen.

There ya go. 352,300.

I was thinking; why not make separate score tables for those playing on a console and those playing on an emulator?

Pretty nice score there, Retrosnow.
I managed to hook up the NES today and took some of the rust from my controllers and my joints.

Sadly, I only saw that the paper with my name wasn't showing when I got the pictures into my laptop. By then the NES was off already. *sigh*
Oh well. If I get home earlier than 10pm from work tomorrow I will give it another run, this time with less stupid deaths at stage 2 and 5.
GnG is one of my favorite games of all time as well, and I won't let the 1st place on this one go lightly.

Thanks. I'm leaving mine where it is for now; I don't think I'll want to play again for quite some time, haha.
