Hey guys!

One thing I've always found lacking in my previous forums was that real life go places with friends stuff. As a major user online for stuff like this, most of my good friends are ones I know online, and many are across the country, or planet!

Is there, or has there ever been, any sort of meetup? I'd love to see something happen here in Toronto if it's allowed to set something up, but wanted to see first if I'm treading past visited ground here.

So... Has it happened, will it happen, can it happen, and is it a good idea?

Usually the best way to meet people is at conventions.

There were previous official meetups, but then the forum got huge. No official meetups anymore.

Feel free to organize your own meetup and post about it here. It just won't be officially endorsed by NA.

Before conventions you may find threads about them to see who's going. Then you can try to find a way to recognize NA members when you see them or a place to meet up.

I know there's a fairly active pocket of Ontario members here; not sure how often/where they do meetups.

There's a show in Syracuse, NY in November.

Id be down. Just has to work out with my schedule, missed out on the last one because I was busy that day

I've only met up with one member from here but I'm definitely down to meet others. I'm havin a friend over this weekend who's also getting a Switch so if anyone wants to get it on that and you're in the Beaverton/Portland area hit me up!   Impromptu Switch Party!!

I do meet ups in my area every three months or so - definitely a fun thing to do but they can be a lot of work. I host them at my house so I have to make sure things are cleaned up plus I like to do a pot luck to make it more comfortable for everyone - one of the hardest things is making sure everyone shows up lol - calls/texts/fb messages/instagram messages it can get a bit over whelming.

The three Ive done though have been a great success and all of them have improved upon themselves. Good luck!

In the past there's been campouts, none lately but there's still a good interest in it if someone decides to pick up the torch. Conventions and other regularly scheduled events are the best way IMO, even if you don't have a ticket someone like me can go meet up with some NAers who are in town for Pax East, play pokemon go or something around Boston Common.

I wear an NA shirt half the time when I go to different game shows, that way other members can identify me. That's how me and rdools first met.
Here's a few coming up in the area:

March 5th - 10 AM - 4 PM: Toronto Toy And Video Game Extravaganza - Toronto Plaza Hotel and Convention Centre

April 2nd - 12-4 PM: Barrie Game Exchange - The Red Barn Event Centre

April 30th - 1-4 PM: CGCC Spring Swap Meet - Cambridge Legion - Branch 126

May 7th - 12-4 PM: GTA Game X - The Mississauga Grand

June 4th - 12-5 PM: Tri City Video Game Show - RIM Center Waterloo

Capt mentioned Retro Game Con in November which is an awesome two day event. I plan to return to, well worth the drive.

The Edmonton guys such as myself ("NAE") just had our 8th meetup near the end of January. We rent a hall on a Sunday and it's always a good time with lots of trading/gaming/BS'ing.

The Calgary guys even hosted a meetup too and a few of us from Edmonton drove down for the day and crashed at a hotel. That was an awesome day.

On top of that pockets of us meet regularly for whatever, whether it's game hunting, gaming, doing deals, etc.

Real fun but definitely the type of thing that needs to develop properly to be successful.

I will be in Toronto this year either for Anime North or for FanExpo, so if some of you crazy Canadians are in the area, it would be interesting to meet you all.  

Damn I wish I still lived in Ontario... I'd love to hit some of these events.

The problem isn't interest, it's the forum is too large..  Just as mattbep said.

Having a party at your house with 100 people gets crazy, and when there's 20K members now, no way to have an open invite party at one's house for the entire forum...

There is also EGLX and Con Bravo. Then the end of summer and fall swaps. I don't go to all of them every year, it would get to expensive.
