This is a bad idea. Only way i'd wanna see it happen is if nintendo and square came back together to make it with some part of the original creators involved.

How did Kickstarter green light this? Their terms and conditions state that you must have at least some sort of prototype prior to listing, I believe.

10 grand is more than enough to get licensing rights and to cover dev costs... More than enough.

I'm not even going to bother to Kickstart this one, as soon as Nintendo catches a whiff of this, this guy and kickstarter will be getting cease orders sent on an hourly basis.

There are rules, but no review process. You click the button and poof, it's live. I was expecting 3-5 days of review, based on reading about starting one, but it simply wasn't there. Shutting them down or stopping them seems to happen after the fact.

I've actually beaten this game already.

I'm in for a full $1,000, I'm sure that would be a great investment....

I'm pretty sure that even if you paid your developers in cokes, coffees and Red Vines you still couldn't afford $10k worth of developers to do a half-decent job on this project. I'd call it a scam, but this is so ill-conceived, I can't help but wonder if this was posted by an ambitious 18 year old who just has no clue. Anyone with half a brain could look at this and know that it won't ever happen for one of many reasons. He'll never reach 10k so it's not like he'll see a single pledged dollar, anyway.

Buuuut that's exactly why it's going to get taken down. It would be safer if you WERE affiliated with Nintendo. But I would be a fool not to be a part of SMRPG history! I'm in for the full $10,000 so that I can name a main character Splain.

You guys didn't even read the FAQ, did you? *skeptical eyebrow raise* All he has to do is change the title of the game, the names of the characters and the way everything looks and it'll be totally fine! I for one am incredibly excited for "Ultra Marco's Turn Based Strategy Thing You Play To Have Fun: The sequel" and I think you should be too
