Hi,

I have the second version where the dash appears after you type the code. It is supposed to be work on all models, and I'm using an early one and tried a bunch of early games and usually work. Genie screen starts, I enter the code and start the game but no codes seem to work and when I press the reset button and reset it all, no codes show up again on the main screen.

There was a suggested test on digital press for checking if the slot on the genie is corrupted. I typed in 0000 0000, went into the game and then reset it and I got different numbers, bottom line shows : 00A0-000D, which means the genie slot is corrupted as it is supposed to come out as 0000 0000

What exactly does that mean, what do I do now to fix it?

First thing I noticed is that the enable professional mode doesn't seem to do anything I'll look into it more as I've seen other codes not work

You might have to get a new game genie I'll have to dig out my own to check out the "test" mentioned. Try cleaning all contacts that you can if it already doesn't work then there is nothing to lose by trying to clean it

I just did that I opened it up as well and cleaned the insides. I used rust remover, windex ( which is supposed to clean the top game cart sold effectively on the nes one at least) and rubbing alcohol.

Not a single thing changed from what I originally described.

Is there is certain way to clean it or do something at this stage? I'm using an first released snes and a 2 release genie (dashes appear) so I don't think its that.

I paid quite a bit, embrassed to say how much, from this gaming store, I'm a bit pissed off since it was claimed it was tested from this big name store, which is why  I actually didn't ebay it, they went out of their way to bag and it print, "tested and refurbished" on the packaging. The least they could have done was check it.

Can't do that. It was in a different state, I was traveling. Yes rocketeer codes for extra lives, the one that starts you with 7 lives didn't work.
