I have a spare duck hunt board, and was going to put the duck hunt hack "Hunt" onto it. After i patched the rom, it changed from 128kb PRG, to 256...also changed it from vertical to horizontal.  Is this normal? Would i then need to put it onto an nrom256 board, or can i just put the bigger chip onto this one?

NROM 256 is a bad name. It holds 32k PRG.

you can use a nrom 128 board but you have to run a wire for the extra address line on a 27c256 chip, since the socket hole for it is wired to GND. it's easier to use a nrom 256 board if you have one available.

it holds 32 kilobytes, or 256 kilobits of prg data. chip naming conventions in that range go by small kb so it's a fine name.
