Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment and newest season of the Weekly Contests!  Here it is, the moment you have all been waiting for (or, the moment where you have been saying all these years, “dammit, why doesn't Dain stop bimmy from doing these crazy, pointless, time-consuming contests” )!  Gird your loins, gear up for some bimmy stories and poetry, get ready for some Kickle shenanigans, and prepare yourselves for some inhuman, cybernetic-style, Bea_Iank moderator scores, it's the beginning of the 2018 NintendoAge NES Weekly Contests!  Whoa, whoa, whoa, before you can enter, I, the great Doctor Bimmy-O, needs to give you all a quick medical examination to make sure you are healthy enough for the challenge that looms ahead.  We wouldn't want to contaminate the thread with the flu or polio or the clap or the Bo Abobo shits or some other debilitating disease, now, would we!  Heck, no!  We want to play games without dipping our heads in the toilet and puking our guts out or running to the bathroom with our hands clamped tightly to our pants as a giant turtlehead pokes out of our butts or our nether-regions itching with a ferocity that only Kickle could know.  Now it's time for the examination.  Okay, let me first start by taking your temperature.  Hmmmm, well, you seem to be running a fever...a fever for some puzzle games!  No problem, that's pretty common.  Next, let's check your vision.  Damn, you seem to have a keen set of eyes...for puzzle games!  Man, you're a strange one, that's for sure!  Let's check your nerves, now...damn, those are shot...from playing puzzle games!  Okay, let me check you for a hernia now.  Drop your pants and cough...whoa, you and Kickle seem to have a lot in a common...a HUGE affinity for...puzzle games!  Okay, I think I've seen enough and you all seem to have the same condition.  Here's my diagnosis.  You may be experiencing feelings of confusion, but don't be afraid because I've seen these symptoms before.  Ten, twenty new cases each week.  I call this condition, Puzzlitis.  I'm going to keep you all in for observation, and I may have to work on you throughout the night.  We have to trust each other, and together, I think we can beat this thing before the contest ends.  The affliction:  A case called Dr. Mario.  The cure:  Well, here's what it takes to heal this disease:

  • 1 player only
  • Play on Virus Level 0, Speed Medium
  • Play until Game Over
  • Highest score wins
  • Participation: 11,000
  • GENRE: Puzzle

The contest ends Sunday, 2/18/18 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Don't EVER let yourself be treated by Dr. Mario or Dr. Luigi or Dr. Wario or Dr. Waluigi. They are all frauds! Come to the office of Dr. Bimmy-O. I have an actual doctor's license and don't operate out of a back alley or a creepy, run-down mini-van, or a grungy, hotel room or a dilapidated backwoods hut. My office has many experienced doctors that will give you top-notch medical treatment. Just don't follow any medical advice from Dr. Abobo. He was fired last week for advising patients to clog up the toilet of Dr. Bimmy-O. That is not, I repeat, not a valid cure for any disease in the history of mankind! I do not want any of you coming to my place and saying "Dr. Abobo said I would feel better if I dropped a giant Super C in your toilet." That does not work! In fact, it causes Dr. Bimmy-O to lose money. You have no idea how much it costs to have Mario Bros. Plumbing come by your place and unclog a toilet. How much, you say? Well, it's more Rupies than you can carry in The Legend of Zelda on the NES! Dr. Abobo is a fraud and will be dealt with accordingly in a few weeks in the NintendoAge Weekly Contests. So, make sure you stop by my office for a hassle-free and legitimate examination. And for those of you that live in low-income households, we now take Mushroom Kingdom Insurance.

Is there any differences is the GB version? Also would the GB version be acceptable? I'd just prefer playing on actual hardware if that's at all a possibility (or I can finally get around to buying a copy of Dr. Mario on NES).

I believe there are speed differences at the very least between the versions, so only scores done on the NTSC NES/Famicom port will be accepted for this thread.

Great story as always Bimmy.
Gotta say I'm excited for this year. Not so much for Dr. Mario. Just slogged my way through stage 5 and had to give it a pause break! Good luck everyone..... except James and Jimtard! Those guys can go......

I plan on destroying Palamedes.

However I'll probably get participation this week. I've never been into Dr. Mario and I don't know how to get a high score. But I have the cart so I'll try.

You get more points for how many viruses you clear on a single pill, doing combo's to clear 2 or 3 viruses at once isn't too hard to set up once you get the hang of it

Oh, I know that you need the big combos to get high scores. It's setting them up that's the problem.
