Hello everyone,

I replied to an ad today on craigslist about PS1 RPG's thinking there was no way I was gonna beat the local re-selling snakes. I e-mailed him and he sent me the list which was Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9, Anthology, Xenogears, Chrono Cross and Persona. Right away I was expecting him to want way too much and lost interest quickly. I was gonna offer him $100 but figured I'd risk it and just see what he wanted for them. I didn't even expect a worthy reply. To my suprise he says" I don't really know what to ask for, how about $60", I agreed. He also said he had a playstation he'd sell for an extra $10. Not wanting to leave him with just a system or the possibility to reconsider I agreed $70 for everything. When I got there it was a PS2 instead of a playstation and every game had the original case and was mint. It's was fucking awesome. The only downsides was Persona and Anthology were missing the manuals and every game is a poop-green greatest hits except Chrono Cross and Persona. I don't know much about PS1.How much do you think everything would be worth if I paid retail? Thanks everyone, I just wanted to share

I think you got a pretty good deal. I would have payed $70 on it if I was in your shoes. I don't care if my PS1 games are greatest hits though. Some people Wouldn't even consider it with them being GH's.

You would pay more than that retail. You did good buying those, especially if they were games you wanted for your collection. You would have paid alot more than at some of the stores around my area.

I personally try to avoid green-labels for myself but I felt it was worth it. If I'm at a store I won't buy a greatest hit but if it's off craigslist in a lot, what can you do

That's a good deal, especially if you want to keep them. Is the PS2 slim? I picked up a huge PS1/PS2 lot that came with a slim, so now I just use that as my DVD player and console. It's so slim and sleek, saves a lot of room and clutter.

Surprisingly I've seen black label Chrono Crosses sell for $15ish on Ebay. Square still sells brand new GH versions, but I didn't think I'd get more than a few bucks after fees, etc., so I just unloaded it at my local shop.

I think you can get $25-$35 for VII, probably $5-10 for VIII (although I see them go for around $10 black label), and $10-$15 for IX. I personally never buy Greatest Hits versions, just habit. When I was in the market for Xenogears, most black labels were going for $30-$40, so I'd guess you could get $20-$25-maybe $30.

Either way, you guy great games to play for a great price. Sweet score!

Square still sells PS1 games?!

Edit: I just looked at their website! Are there any other companies that still sell PS1 games?

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm really suprised Square still sells PS1 games new. They probably manufactured so many Greatest-hits when the PS2 was coming out that they had trouble getting rid of them all. It would be badass if they were all black labels or had 7 for $14.99, but its still pretty tight.

I think you did really well. You basically paid for a nice copy of Persona and a couple GH FF games. Rest of it was free.

I've seen FF VII GH sell for $70 on it's own around Christmas time...sometimes it's not what you sell but when you sell it

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

I would hook you guys up with the games for a good price but I'm literally broke as hell right now. I recently moved back in with my parents and it sucks. I'm trying to save enough up to get another apartment. Anyways, I threw most of those games and the system in a lot on Ebay. I'm hoping some little shit will bid the auction up! THANKS FOR THE INPUT!
