It's the late re-release. Around the time Nintendo was releasing the "Classic Series" for their sold-out games Punch Out, Metroid and Zelda I and II (kind of like Million Sellers and Greatest Hits) Konami decided to jump on the bandwagon. Although with Blades of Steel, apparently very few were made/sold because it's quite scarce. BoS silver label is like an R1 or R2, I'd judge the red label as an R6 easily.
Wow, I had no idea it was that much rarer. Is there any kind of established value? I've had that since I very first started collecting!
The value for this one has depreciated quite a bit in the past year or so. I remember when I snagged mine cheap, CIB copies were going in the high 60's to high 70's, and they NEVER showed up on ebay. However, now you can probably pick up a decent CIB copy for around 45-50. I tried to sell my box and instructions pretty cheap a little while ago but nobody bit.
Ha, back in the day this one didn't bring as much as the other simply because it wasn't the regular release. i remember picking up a CIB release of this for $5 on ebay... regular CIBs were brining 15-20
