Type in the members ID in a post and they receive a PM stating that some had tagged you in a post.

This is a great idea and is used on many different forums that I frequent.

Makes it useful so that you do not have to go hunting for threads that you replied on.

Also make it to when you quote someone that quoted person gets a PM stating that they were quoted.

One thing I would like to add to this as well is, when you post in a thread there is a small icon like a green dot next to it, again this would make it easy to see were you have posted instead of going to the threads posted in section were they are set in the date the first post was made not when the last post was made.

i back this idea

EDIT

Thinking about it, you wouldnt have to worry about backwards compatibility either. Just make a table for tagged members and post id.

Not quite the same. I could 'subscribe' to everything I post in also. Tagging would be much easier.

Would'nt happen that way, you would have to do an @Paul; or  how ever the Website master codes for it  to properly tag someone.

Wouldn't that have a facebook feel to it?

I mean I'm closing my facebook account and don't want NA to feel like Facebook.

Oh, ok. I don't quite understand what tagging is then. I get a PM when someone else types my name in? Sounds like what a saved search will do. You save your user name and you will get a notice any time someone posts your user name.

edit: oh damn 5 posts before I got that one out....ok so tagging is something you do intentional. Sounds strange to me, but ok.

Well, maybe that's what it is then. Try tagging me in the next post, Mog.

I've bookmarked my name.

You mean you added it as a keyword watch? If so, then you should get a message for this.

Thanks Lucas. Mog, didn't work. I set the keyword as my name, and no PMs.

You wouldn't get a PM then. You would need to type in the name perfectly, or maybe have the forums fill in the rest. Example: I type, 'S-e-g-e' and the drop down box come up with a selection of names, including the one that I need, Segertar.

or if you type the "@" then it will bring up an auto completer after 3 letters. like an airline site like travelocity

That's a great idea. That way you wouldn't a get a random pop up box unintentionally.
