these guys seem much more down to earth.... they don't even care about rarity (or know anything about it according to how wide eyed and drooly they got when they saw a toploader). I like both shows, but don't take either of them THAT seriously...

Just watched the first three episodes. They don't seem that bad. Something to watch when you have nothing better to do at work. Have not got far enough into the "reseller" theory yet. But if you are going to spend money, you have to make money...and if that is how they do it, then that is how they do it. What can we do about it?

The truth Is If you dont resale some in any hobby ..you have to have very deep pockets ..So dont hate then say I am not hating and on the hating on resalers when that is who you buy from is crazy too

Exactly. If you're a collector, I see no problems in picking up various things you may not need in order to help fund things you want. You don't have to gouge people on price either... If I find something for a good deal, I try and let it go to another collector for a good price. I'm not out to screw anyone over by charging ebay prices on a game I spent 2 bucks on, but I'd like to make it worth my time ya know?

The people that bug me are the ones who have resell booths setup at flea markets and scour the market early, buying up everything in sight and then charging 3x (or more) what they paid.

Yeah, that is weird, the go n their trips in the show with little to no money and can only buy a little bit of stuff at a place with a ton of stuff. It is hard to think that they only do that for the cameras and then buy up a ton for resell, but it is possible I guess.

Of course everyone resells. but if you havent seen there specials or hear their opinions on resellers, they are hypocrits. Buying a rare game to flip is different than buying stacks of the same game and clearing out an entire store. I know i dont have concrete evidence like an ebay seller account, but I have multiple accounts of people telling me the same things and a couple of them direct sources and not hearsay. People can believe what they want. Again if you read the beginning of this thread. Im not jealous, Im not mad they resell, it upsets me that they take donations, and speak one thing, get all the perks of retroware tv coverage and "celebrity" and are hypocrits. On top of that coming to my town 3 hours away going to my flea markets and buying a vendor out. Dont have any money my ass. Its all show. And to all the comments playing devils advocate so hard that its possibly denial, there is a chance Im wrong. Theres also a chance that Im part hispanic, but the odds are heavily favored that Im the whitest dude you may know.


Besides being hypocrits, my secondary complaint is how they are raising attention to retro games in these stores with there cameras and such. Just making the games even harder to find now. They are the ones that even brought on a price increase in one chain on a few games, that now will never make it out to the floor. Before they were low prices and not thought about. now they will go in the glass case if they even get that far.

It really does suck. There was one episode they called the store back that they got the F2 back, and asked if they could video again. The asked the employee if he saw the show. The employee said yeah and thats not happening again. Thanks alot game chasers. Then the district manager of that store raises prices on the rare games. ughhh

I dunno, I don't know the lady. We all probably need more evidence than that of what she said. She could have been mistaken, or for all we know, she could be a loony? How can we know?

Not saying she's a liar and not saying she isn't... it's just that nobody really knows without proper evidence.

More media pertaining to this hobby has negatives, no doubt. If you subtract AVGN from the mix it makes me wonder what prices would be at today. Yes, I am serious, I think he, himself, spawned a lot of more fans into this hobby and guys who cover it. And as a result, directly impacted the prices. While I truly do enjoy guys like Pat the NES Punk, it makes me wonder just how much games have gone up in price as a result.

Interesting observation, I kinda wondered that too.

Let's not forget that stupid show with the "NES-001" deal... it was totally called out and has an impact as well. I still have people asking me they got a Nintendo worth more than their house mortgages. =\

Well one thing is for sure, with every boom ... there is an equal crash.

I hope that crash comes sooner than later. 

I was at a local flea market yesterday. All the outdoor vendors wanted $4-5 minimum with no wiggle room. These were for common carts. Once we got indoors it was worse. A lot of the vendors had games in thier booths, but they were all marked up more than they were worth. One guy went as far as to not show us stuff because he said it cost too much money. That floored me and my buddy. This was after he told me that anything with Mario on it was $25 or more. We were paying flea market customers and this guy was basically pricing himself out of business. I thought the goal for these guys was to make money, not hold onto games because they think they hold more value than they actually do.

Everyone always refers to "a crash", or "the bubble burst". If anything, game prices will just level off, like every other collectible known to man. Don't feed me the comic book hrseshit, because they still make comics in droves, they don't make these carts (NES, SNES etc.) anymore. To crash, peeps would have to lose interest all together in unison, which will never....ever happen. The worst case scenario will be that peeps just getting into games or collecting, paying the prices they are now, might lose out on a little, but not all. Those waiting for the gaming market to crash, just get better jobs so you can afford what you want, or emulate and stop bitchin. The sky isn't falling, Chicken Little. I, myself buy, trade, sell, steal online, emulate, or give away games and could really care less which way it goes. One way or another...I'm fuckin gaming!!

IMO, it's all "he said, she said" right now and not enough concrete evidence. Would I care if they do? Meh, not really. They spend time to make an entertaining show that keeps getting better as time goes on, so I can't complain.

Im sure a few people in arkansas on this site might not like their newest vid. I know of atleast 10 or so people on this site that go to that store. game chasers publishing to the world tiny town game stores that are awesome.
