So it has finally been released! Has anyone been planning on doing a full NES release of this? If not, then I'm interested in helping out if it is possible to put this on cart.

I saw that! Then I cringed when you have to patch some chinese version of the rom or something. Always makes things too difficult, those patches.

I did it and it works fine on my NDS NES emulator but not on my Everdrive

Yeah, saw this the other day. When someone figures it out, I'm in for a copy.

-------------------------

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

It is not likely that anybody is going to make a repro board for this any time soon (I have asked around), so modding the actual Chinese game will probably be the only option. Looks like I bought a copy of it just in time! However, if someone does do a run, I'm in as well for that!

I've been in contact with the guy in charge of this store: http://www.shopflashback.com/apps...

And it appears that he is working on a cart release. Slow going because of the crazy pirate board, but progress is being made.

Impressive, if I were much of a big FF7 fan I'd consider going after a cart, but looking at shop flash back I can see how he likes to tier his NES stuff so it wouldn't surprise me if it was like $70+ for it and I'm sure some would still gobble that up.

Ryan from Flashback is pretty good. I'm sure he will figure it out.

Ryan from Flashback sells repros of released games...Hagane, Metal Warriors...sigh.

I know his shop just launched.  I wonder if he's getting backlash for that.  It's gonna suck when they hit eBay.  I think he sells some other repros of big hitters for nes too, iirc.

Yeah doing those types of games is definitely an issue.

Makes me wonder how many of the cart-only copies on ebay + amazon of those games were purchased at his store and just relisted as originals...

As for that Final Fantasy ... the fact it requires the Chinese copy of a game makes it a huge hassle I'd bet. It's kind of the same thing with that huge SFC Romancing SaGa 3 Japanese patch that was made awhile back requiring a Japanese rom only for patching.

It's not that hard to track down really, just look for "Final Fantasy 7 (C) NES."

I cant speak for that, but if you have a problem try speaking to him. He has always done quality work as far as I know.

This is pretty cool, they have taken the chinese rom, translated it, and did a graphical overhaul to accurately represent FF7 better.

That's interesting and I can see people on here at least getting hot over him doing bootlegs of released titles. Then again I suppose if you're not from the NTSC-US market it would be entirely acceptable you know in all fairness.

There are some pictures of the PCB for this game in this thread, about half way down. http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...

Once the mapper has been reverse engineered and cloned then maybe someone will be able to make carts. It's going to take some serious effort though. I think the best bet would be to use the original as a donor, thats only possible if the game ROM and patch doesn't change it drastically.

As for this guy, http://www.shopflashback.com/apps... if he's a member here he better be in the HOS. Also if your promoting someone who is known to sell repros of released carts, give your head shake, no actually punch yourself in the face.

I won't argue, look I'm not a collector, but it's ironic folks are ok with hacks of games or translations. But "released" is "bad". But only US release? So thise world championships are ok? All those games from japan? Lets not kid ourselves about a moral high ground, its all bad. His carts are clearly marked as repros, and all ill say is his work is good, his prices decent, and his customer service top notch. It's not like he is trying to pass them off as real copies.

Moral high ground has nothing to do with it. Hypocrisy is it plain and simple. The old quote and I have no idea who said it first: 'Never shit in your own back yard' pretty much covers it. You can pretend it's ok to screw with another regions games and pass them off looking right or right enough, and that's fine because you're only wrecking the value of those games in their area, but when you do it to a game in your area then the torches and rope come out. It's not right, but it is what it is.

That said the guys work looks good, and there is a minor variation to the seal to show it's not totally legitimate, it's just that guys choice of label versus using a nuclear sign, a timewalk or retrousb logo or whatnot, but in the end anyone not in tune with what a repro is still will think those are real too and they're getting just as equally burned and odds are they may never even notice nor care if it plays right and they get their money out of it. If that guy were using legit boards like retrousb does I'd probably buy that Samson off him as it's a solid game, but I'll never fork over $500 for it, even in traded goods as I could use that much for a new laptop, tablet, some equipment or something of real use.

Where do you think they got the ROM to translate in the first place?
