Ok, I have been playing punch out! since like 1990...yet bald bull STILL owns me almost every time i face him!!  I know you have to throw a body blow on his 3rd "hop", but I find this incredibly feaking difficult to time...does anyone else have this same problem?? Or am I the only hopeless bastard out there?? Any little tips or hints??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

you're the only hopeless bastard out there

j/k

i've never had a problem with it. throw a left jab straight to his stomach right before he punches. i've never really did it by the hops, only by memorization of time and sound. (if that makes since )

there is a little melody to it lol

Yeah I've never had a problem with bald bull... It's just a timing thing... So I guess you are a hopeless bastard..

I do have a suggestion though... You could try an emulated version so you can keep trying it out until you get the timing right without restarting every time... Then move on to the cart and own his ass! You'll get it down.. As Peppy said, in Starfox 64: "Never give up trust your instincts"... I can just hear it now

I just beat this last week after not playing for months and I beat the game without losing, been a while since I did that. Even then, the only time I was knocked down (besides from Iron Mike) was with Bald Bull's Bull Charge. It happens to the best of us, but you'll get it with practice. Make sure you give us a follow up!

1 2 3 punch works every time TFGZ hit the nail on the head. I have more trouble out of Soda Pop and Sandman.

Super Macho Man gives me the most problems, but not too much.

I love beating this game without dying.

On the second Bald Bull I had problems for a while, but I got it down. You just have to keep practicing.

SMM gives me the most trouble as well. Those windup punches are critical.

You're not alone. I quit playing the game because of Bald Bull. I was able to beat him and the entire game back in the 90s, but not once in this century.
And now I know what I was doing wrong. I was aiming for the face.

Yeah, that game is nothing but learning patterns (and having fast-ass reflexes for dodging Macho Man's spin attack and dodging Tyson for the first minute.

Is it sad that for some reason I can beat the hell out of punch out!, but have never beaten Mike tyson's punch out!?  I laugh about it all the time, I can typically beat it without being ko'd, most of the time without even getting knocked down, but MT I have never beaten.

Technically Mike Tyson is the hardest because he can smack you just once and knock you down in the first 1:30. He can be a little trickey sometimes as well later in the fight. I have always found Sandman the hardest. Probably because you rarely get to practice on him. Here is no direct code to him and you either have to loose to Super Macho (using the code) to get to him fast or beat (I think this is right) Piston Honda 2, Soda Pop, Bald Bull 2 and Don Flamenco 2 just to get to the guy (if you use the other code). You can go right to SMM or Tyson and practice a bunch, but you never think to practice on Sandman. If he hits you and throw off your rhythm then he can be rather tough. Once you get the hang of him though he is not too bad. I think people have trouble with Soda Pop because he looks so different than anyone else, even more so than SMM who has the same build.

I'm with NGD on this about the only guy who even gets a hit on me is Sodapopinski... I always seem to try to time his punches and end up dodging too early.

For longest time, me and my brother had difficulties on Bald Bull. But once we figured out the knockout punch on his charge then it was a piece of cake. Soda Pop gave us the most trouble I think. Super Macho Man wasn't really all that hard to be honest. Learning that Mike Tyson's one hit knock down was a pain though! God, I was so mad to get that far and then lose.
