If you see any issues with my list, as in I missed a game... please shoot me a PM and I'll look into it.  Thanks everyone!  Updated list - 3/7/16.

Have a Kiosk and want a award for it?  Post a picture here:  http://74.86.217.179/auth/forum/m... and NA Member Ferris Bueller will make sure it gets added to your account.

Rather post pics over on Segaage?  Click here:  http://segaage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=42&thread...

If you have an idea for a new series award please post it here:  http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=4&...

Rules for "Game Series" Icons

Qualifications and rules for the icons are as follows:

What is and isn't on the list and why
- NA releases only for what games are considered for the list.
- So our Europe members aren't left out, PAL counterparts are OK for the completion of game series sets.
- Does not have to be CIB.  Loose is OK.
- Looking for original or close to original releases. Ports or variants within a couple years are OK.
- Remakes are not part of the list and cannot be substituted. Example: Resident Evil Remake for
Gamecube or RE: Deadly Silence are not accepted and not part of the list.
- Compilations and collections are not part of the list and can't be substituted for individual titles.
- Re-releases in the form of Players Choice, Greatest Hits, etc. are OK.
- Re-releases for a game that wasn't formally released individually. Example: Final Fantasy V. Was
originally part of FF Anthology compilation, wasn't released individually until FF V: Advance. Therefore
that's when it is added to the list.
- DLC, cell phone games are not part of the list.
- Only one console version is fine. (As in you don't need both PS3 and X360 versions.)
- Some games have the same title. Example: Mega Man for NES and Mega Man for Gamegear. If they
are both on the list it means they are different enough to be considered unique titles.
- List will be updated as needed. Please note that once a member has an icon, they get to keep it. Unless they sell off their collection or want their icon removed.
- Smash Bros. games can be used as a extra, but used only once.  (Example:  You can't use Smash Bros. Brawl for all Star Fox, F-Zero, Earthbound, ect... only one series, one time for one game)
- Some obscure systems may not be included on the list.  Ex: Tiger elec., game.com, CDi, ect.

- If this seem to confusing, please just refer to the lists below for which games are required.

Two conditions for getting the award:

1. Must have all the games for the series.

2. Must have at least 5 additional "bonus items" that have to do with the series.

Note: These Icons are designed to show a members fandom for a series. The Bonus items are implemented in order to show that fandom outside of just the game titles.

I'm open to what bonus items can be. Examples of some are: Game variants (label, screw, color, error). A VGA copy of a game can be used as and extra.  Any release not listed (Example: Mario Tennis, Mario Party, GBA SMB ports, etc...). Releases from other regions, pirates, demos, protos. Strategy Guides, promotional materials. Toys, T-shirts, Halloween costumes, valentines, etc..... Handmade artwork, tattoos, bead-art may be considered.  Please note that CIB repos and imports count as one extra not three, as they go together as a set.

However, please keep in mind that these icons are intended to be difficult to get.

I qualify for an icon. How do I get it?

Simple, just follow these steps:

1.
Group all the games together with the 5 bonus items and take a picture (or two).
2.
Post picture in this thread.

I'll look at the pictures and verify your qualification, I'll then pm a mod for your icon. (If you don't want to make your pictures public then just email me your pics at [email protected]) Also, please be patient with receiving the award, this process make take a few days or so.

Here's an example picture of what a set would look like:

One more note on this. If you have any suggestions, please pm me. It's not an easy or even possible task to get everyone to agree with what's on or off the list. The important thing about these lists is it makes it so everyone will be going off the same thing. As for other game series people would like to see, feel free to let me know your suggestions.  Each series should have atleast 10 unique games going forward.  Alright, lets see some pics!

You might want to reformat those tables... the first column is getting pinched and makes the post really LONG, when it should be wider instead.

I know the rationale for not allowing remakes like Resident Evil on Gamecube since it was a huge upscale and actually added some features.

But for seemingly direct ports, does the system really matter? You had RE2 up there for PS1, but I'd think that the N64 or Gamecube version should count, especially considering that we're on a Nintendo forum.

bigred - Nope CD-i are not on the list.

Jonebone - Good question. What I was going for was original releases. As in games released in or around there initial run. So for RE2, PS1 or N64 release is fine. But RE2 port for Gamecube came out 5 years later. So I was going with releases with in about a couple years or so of the original run. If you've seen the news RE: CV and RE4 are coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 as High Def ports. It wouldn't seem fair to me to count those new ports as replacements for 5+ year old releases. Since we are going for more or less original run games.

How about a Contra Icon. It wouldn't be to easy since there are very few extras you can't find for the series.

  1. Contra (Arcade, NES, MSX2, DOS, C64, CPC, ZX) (1987)
  2. Super Contra (Arcade, NES, DOS, Amiga) (1988)
  3. Operation C (Game Boy) (1991)
  4. Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance) (1992)
  5. Contra Force (NES) (1992)
  6. Contra: Hard Corps (Mega Drive/Genesis) (1994)
  7. Contra: Legacy of War (PlayStation, Saturn) (1996)
  8. C: The Contra Adventure (PlayStation) (1998)
  9. Contra Adventure was only released in North America, with no Japanese nor European versions.
  10. Contra: Shattered Soldier (PlayStation 2) (2002)
  11. Neo Contra (PlayStation 2) (2004)
  12. Contra 4 (Nintendo DS) (2007)

^^ Yep acomicbookguyc. I've already done up a list for contra in some other series. I may as well post a few other ones I've worked on. Please note that these may or may not end up being used.

Bomberman, Contra, Donkey Kong, Dragon Quest, Metal Gear, Mortal Kombat, Star Fox, Street Fighter, Tetris.

Gotcha, that rationale makes sense. What about Code Veronica X? Was it that much later on the Gamecube than PS2 / DC to make it not count?

It was released on the DC and PS2 in 2001 and in 2003 on the GC. If someone is a fan of the series I'm sure they would have got it from the original release and not the later release.

I'm a fan of the series and don't own a PS2 or Dreamcast.  But I guess these are just for the hardest of hardcore I suppose.

^ No, it's a remake.

Also, you're new here.
Certainly you must have better things to talk about than trying to get award images for a site you just joined...
No offense, but it just seems odd. 2/3 posts are in this thread.

Just wanted to make sure of the rules. Off work today and I just finished my Zelda collection yesterday.

Just keep this in mind when looking at these icons.

I'm a fan of the series and don't own a PS2 or Dreamcast.  But I guess these are just for the hardest of hardcore I suppose.

The hardest of the hardcore would have required the Zelda CDi games

On the RE thing, my feeling would be that if it's the same game, it shouldn't matter what system you're counting it from, regardless of the relative release dates.  Some ports just take longer than others, and exclusivity arrangements can have all kinds of terms that delay releases on secondary systems for years, rather than months.

No worries bigred. You should group them together and take a pic. Also a pic of 5 bonus items mentioned in the rules at the top of the page and we'll get you an icon.

If we allow this to happen then that means if a game is rereleased now in 2011 someone can easily acquire the game and get it off the list. This list isn't necessarily for the hardcore gamer but for those who collected or are a big fan of the orignal series. We have to remember that we have to make icons as difficult as possible to acquire or else everyone is going to have them. I can easily go on ebay and buy all these games for under a $100 but what's the fun in that. We have these rules to make it somewhat difficult.

@ Jonebone You dont have a PS2! BLASPHEMY!.....lol jk bro.

The more I think about it the more these icons get complicated

Yes, your right acomicboyguy, these series and list can be complicated. Trust me when I say it took Berserker and myself awhile to decided what to include and what to exclude. Ports, remakes, Compilations, re-releases, ect. Lots of things to look at. It just comes down to setting up the rules (already done in first post) and abiding by them throughout all the series. Everyone has a different opinion so it will be impossible to make everyone happy with what games are on the list, but the list just is what it is.

How is it that Mega Man 1-7 and Mega Man X-X8 are required for a complete set, but the three (six with variants) Star Force games are too insane a number of games to include?

Also, if the Mega Man Battle Network White/Blue is counted as one game on the list (I know you aren't requiring it for a badge, but bear with me here) then Pokemon Red/Blue should probably be listed as only one game, too.

lolwut.

Also, if rereleases really aren't being included because you want to increase the difficulty factor in getting these badges, then you guys should really include those Mega Man BN and SF games.

Seriously, if difficulty of getting the badge is why you're not counting rereleases, etc, then you should go all-or-nothing with this and require the more exotic stuff like the CDi releases.

If you're going to compromise on that, then don't be a snob about PS2 vs GC and whether or not a "true fan" would have had the original when it came out.   Also, some of the rereleases are actually superior versions of the game.

Given the compromises you're making, it seems like it really should just be "these are the titles needed to get the badge - show a picture that has these titles, regardless of platform".

I don't have a DS, and therefore I'm not even gonna try for any of these. Otherwise I'd be nearly done with 1 of them and close with 2 others. Oh well.

The main reason for not counting re-releases (in the form of re-releases coming years later or remakes) is that I was thinking the origional releases are important to a true full set.  This might make icons tougher to get, but that's okay, lots of icons are tough to get.  That's kind of what makes them special.  Now I'm not saying you can't show off your remakes and much later ports.  Those can be included in the 5 bonus items.  Kind of like what I did with my Zelda collection picture in the first post.

I guess you're running the show on these, so do whatever you like, but I think it undermines your argument when you don't required the CDi Zelda games, for instance.
