Purpose:

The Yobo Adapter (60-72 pin Adapter) due to its height in famicom sharp twin's and other famicom consoles other than the original famicom's will not display games correctly or art all.

You can make it work (kind of) If you eject the adapter with the game cart attached to it slightly from the console. However this takes anywhere from one try to 10, to make the pins line up and work.

Now let me show you how to make it work 99%, this does not include games where you have to modify the yobo card to read (some MMC5 and Retrozone's NES flash card).

To adjust the height of the pins to make contact with the 60pin inside the console please read below...

Materials:

One Q-Tip, Hot Glue, Hot Glue Gun, and Scissors.

Steps:

1 - Cut one Q-Tip into lengths equal to that of the adapter's width, so a little more than a 1/4 inch.

2 - Use the hot glue to attach the Q-tips to the adapter.

3 - Hold the Q-Tip tightly to make sure you get the height you require, because if both sides are off a little, the adapter will not read.

4 - Try it out.

The Q-Tip has the right height to get the adapter to work with almost any game I threw at it, instead of having to press the eject button a little. The hot glue worked better than black electrical tape.

Also it's a good idea to completely clean the yobo adapter before work, as your hot glue over the cartridge seam.

Confused me too, I had to read your post 3 times to understand what you were saying. lol But I get it now. The adapter goes in too far for unsupported consoles that the adapter isn't made for, correct? So the Q-tips keep the contacts at the right height for the adapter to work. I think.

So I think I got it, but the process itself is a little to hard to understand here. Could you include some pics? That might make it a little more easier to grasp.

I like little cheap mods like this.

how is that hard to understand, initially yes I can see how, but after I reworked it... it can't be that hard.

I think some pictures would help explain things better. You know, a picture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes.

Aye... The Yobo brand adapter is honestly junk. They are prone to problems, need modification to work with anything that requires VRAM /CE and CHR A13, and are notorious for not working with the PowerPak, which is essentially the primary need for one on a Famicom.

Good to see you made it work, but such a device should not need cotton swabs or popsicle sticks under it to function out of the box.

Indeed, I understand. I have several types, and I will soon be offering a new one, however, you are certainly spot-on about the price of the Yobo being the lowest. That makes it popular, but as the big appeal of these today is being able to use the PowerPak, they tend to be self-defeating, and I don't carry them for that reason.

I wouldn't mind ordering 250-500 units of the plastic shells that Yobo uses on them though.

Do you know if there is a way to make this thing compatible with powerpak?

Interesting... How extensive is your Famicom GD disk collection? I'm in the process of dumping a selection of disks at present, which is not an easy-peasy process.

To the other question: I don't recall if the Yobo adapter has fused (or NC) pins, or if it can be be reasonably modified. I don't have one here at present to inspect, and I don't plan to be getting any. 'Easy', in any event, is quite a relative expression.
