Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week’s game is going to be Danny Sullivan’s Indy Heat.  Here are the rules:
 
 

• 1 player only (you will be the red car)
• Play until you lose all of your continues
• To get your picture, wait until after all the intro screens to see the top scores screens.
• Highest score wins
• Participation: Beat Joel’s score (100 pts)
• GENRE: Sports

 
 
The contest ends Sunday, 9/11/16 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Managed to get a cheap copy of this a few months ago. Pretty fun, though I seem to catch on fire far before I ever run out of gas, hah!

Pretty good score tablew.
I did beat this game last year for the "Can NA beat every nes game" thread last year, so I might try to post a score this week.
But time is short, and dancing and flirting with pretty girls at the dancing classes is being just too much fun, so who knows.

Weird. I remember beating this one last year. I guess I ended up doing it while I was in my racing binge. I am also quite drunk right now, so my memory is fuzzy.
And yeah, it is weird that you had exactly 900 points.  
The score shouldn't roll or max at 900 either, since the high score screen has space for 5 digits score. It is very weird.

The damage aspect is a nuisance. I'll be ahead in a race and all of a sudden smack into something and then slow down to a crawl and then can't catch up. It might be "realistic" but it's so annoying.

I can make it to the 3rd corner usually before my car stops moving completely, ridiculous.
 

Are you making pit stops when you're low on fuel?
 

I have yet to make it that far, I start the race, then right around the third turn nothing works anymore.

 

I think you're running out of gas. It shows your fuel level at the bottom. When you're running low you have to go through the pit stop to refuel.

 

No, fuel is usually only about a quarter used up, I have yet to make a single lap

Well that shouldn't be happening.

Love this game though.

I just went for a second round to see if I could improve... 568 again, I have plateaued.

I can't get the hang of this. Once season 2 starts, Danny's kicking my ass all over the place. Most likely participation for me this week.
