Alrighty guys, I tried to format this in a not sloppy way but I'm sure it could use some tidying. So, basically here are a bunch of notes and such I can determine based on my findings. I will also summarize what I feel should be the final list based on the standards here. That being that games with the same name but different games should all be required, US releases, etc. I wasn't 100 percent on the GB version of double dragon and battloads crossover or if the GB version of DD3 was different from the genesis one, otherwise I think the list below is pretty comprehensive, but obviously everyone here combined might have notes to share. I can look into the couple I wasn't positive on tomorrow if no one else knows for sure.
Battletoads/ Double Dragon
Battletoads- (NES, Genesis, Game Boy (In Ragnarok's World, watered down port), Game Gear)
Battletoads and double dragon- (Nes, Snes, Genesis, GB) (From what I can see, they all seem to be basically the same but if anyone can expand on the GB title that would be nice, had trouble on it)
Battletoads (Game Boy, different game often considered a sequel despite the same name and box art)
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs- SNES
Double Dragon (Nes, SMS, Genesis, Lynx, 7800, 2600, many more)
Double Dragon (Game Boy, this version has different level designs from the original, so it may be desired to count it as its own thing, your call)
Double Dragon (Game Gear, version is entirely unique)
Double Dragon 2: The revenge- NES
Double Dragon II (Game Boy, seems to be a unique game not like the NES/Arcade)
Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones (Nes) (Not a port, but in fact developed in tandem according to
http://doubledragon.wikia.com/wik... )
Double Dragon III: The Arcade Game (Genesis) (I had trouble determining if these are different games, but I do know they are not the same as the NES one)
Double Dragon III: The Arcade Game (Game Boy) (as noted, I couldn't find definitive info if the genesis and this are different, but I figured if you need the first 2 anyways, maybe)
Super Double Dragon-SNES
Double Dragon 5: The shadow falls -SNES, Genesis, Jaguar
Double Dragon Advance (this is a remake of the first game, if you want to count that)
Double Dragon (Neo Geo CD and PS1) (I would remove this as it did not seem to have a release in the US, looks neat though)

So basically, all versions of the original title battletoads are the same game, but the genesis port and such were made easier with minimal changes otherwise.
Page defining that Ragnarok's World is based on the original game, where as the original Battletoads on the Game Boy is a different game, basically a sequel.

Notes about DD that I could see.
Double Dragon
Lynx, SMS, Genesis, Nes, Arcade, 7800 and such are all the same base game. The genesis game is unlicensed and very poorly designed by the look of it, the SMS supports co-op but is otherwise basically the same game, the lynx game is also the same but severely zoomed in. The GBA game is a remake with a lot of changes, I could see the arguement of including it as well, but it would depend if people counted REmake or Twin Snakes, etc as well.
Double Dragon 2
Nes version is solid but is actually very different than the arcade game, genesis version is more like the arcade game but didn't release in the US and is bad. The Gameboy version is also basically its own game.
Double Dragon 3
Genesis and Game Boy versions (while possibly different, can't tell right now) seem to be based on the Arcade game where as the NES game is its own thing, also having different names.
