Fireman just before Wily is my main obstacle. Invariably, he causes good damage. I've come SO close a few times. I can definitely say that without stopping to farm energy (points collaterally) it's completely impossible to get anywhere near 2 mil.

In this sense, you're better served as far as the contest to take damage than to avoid it... so, at this point I concede and am focusing on a personal goal. I'm disregarding points for the most part and just trying to get 1 life sans energy farming on vid cap.

Best advice I could say for Fireman is too keep moving no matter what and hope for the best. He's absolutely the toughest of the robot masters to kill without getting seriously banged up. The fire shots coming at you aren't bad enough, standing still nets a flame below MM.

Most definately my score reflects more than a couple times ending up stopped shooting for energy, I don't know really where the line should be. I told myself I wouldn't post any score until I'd made a clean run through the game, and that's where it ended up.

Whoo-hoo! Finally beat this game with 1 life and no enemy farming. My score was around 1.3 Mil, but as I said before I don't care about that anymore. I got it on video and I'll post it to the thread once I process it. Total time was around 36 minutes, not counting the credits.

Total time getting there is another matter entirely. I must have tried over two dozen runs before finally nailing Wily's ass.

First try for the contest. I've finished this game twice already this year though so I had some practice recently. Didnt get nearly as lucky as Tall Guy with the Boss scores. Only got one 100,000.

I'll probably do another run to see if I get better scores for the bosses.

Got about 45 minutes in. I farmed only on one level to get up to 99 balls, but the rest I just got sick of it and played through. I could not have gotten closer to dying on Electric man, it was a miracle. Unfortunately, I died on iceman shortly after

. I think I'm done. I wanted to break 1 Mil, oh well.

And that pic was even hard to snap. I kept getting hurt just trying to stand on that and take the pic

Wow you guys are getting some nice scores! I still can't find my camera so I will just be playing for the fun factor but I just got slightly above 1,000,000 on one life and no point racking and I was in the third Wily level. May give it a try later in the week.

Thanks for the congrats tall guy and bimmy!

Here's my video if anyone cares to watch it... I forgot that Wily only hit me once (and it was a cheap shot because I couldn't move at the time). In the end, I had to make up for my problem with Fireman by getting better at Wily instead. At least his attacks are avoidable.

i watched your video and thats some crazy stuff, awesome job. i tried the game again today and made it to 7xx,xxx but since others have already smoked that #, i figured whats the point.

but i did make it to the beginning of dr wily's level. those stupid flying platforms over the spikes got me.

I'm having a hard time getting to the minimum. It's like stinger all over again. I've never been too good at not dying in mega man games.

If I'm not mistaken, I'm 7th place (478,800 without farming at all)... stupid iceman and the random moving, shooting platforms kept me from advancing and I grew tired of it. This is me immediatly after getting killed by Elecman. I could beat Iceman, Fireman, Cutsman and Gutsman. I'll give it another try today at night.

May I suggest having Ninja Gaiden 2 next for the contest?

After a few frusterating attempts I did another solid run. This time I got better scores on the bosses (2x 60k, 2x 90k, 2x 100k)and farmed 99 point balls on each stage (with a few exceptions). I thought with all the point farming I did my score would be a lot higher.

After playing Battle Kid all week and seeing what some others did, I had no option but to farm. That was the only way to top crabmaster for me. There was a couple people along with me who decided we were gonna have a farming battle.
