Probably the toughest lost I took in all the time I played. You totally destroyed that game with your score Randy

I'm not looking forward to Marble Madness if we play it next year. I beat it as a kid, but I don't know how I did it. Playing as an adult, I can't do that last course for the life of me. Controls just aren't precise enough or something.

I don't know, Marble Madness controls always felt incredibly solid to me.

Wow. That Marble Madness contest was some next level stuff. So many great scores being posted one after another!
I wish I was that good!

Then why do I keep slipping off the damn track?

I guess I just suck.

Haha! I know the isometric perspective can trick you in taking the wrong direction, but once you stick with one of the control and understand/feel them well, it usually becomes second nature to control that little Marble.

Reminds me of the RoadBlasters contest where my score that was 100k more than the Twin Galaxies world's record was only good enough for 6th place.

So I hesitate to bring this up because I know how this may come off, but curiosity got the better of me...

The 2012 contest rules were a bit odd and i'm wondering what counted as a win. Was it the highest "block" leaderboard score or the highest overall score (or both)?

The season was done in blocks where the leader after 6 games would qualify for the tournament. Each new block reset the leaderboard. Tournament qualifiers still played for genre icons but could no longer place on the main leaderboard, making way for others to place first and qualify for the tournament.

Not sure if that means that guillavoie and I spent most of 2012 playing as guests or not, but either way is fine. The stats guy in me just wanted to know.

I can start figuring out genre stuff later today. It's going to take a long ass time as I'll probably have to load up a spreadsheet with every finish by every player ever. And I might need clarification on certain games (ie QBert being arcade instead of puzzle)

I'd probably do overall all-time genre points leaderboards

I think I'm going to keep them as is.  Guest scores are going to universally be considered just that, and not official.  Just like I have had to make a call on only counting tier 1 winners for those weeks.  Otherwise it just kind of becomes a slippery slope.  I have consulted with the mods on this and I think there is agreement there.

Hmm, I've been reviewing the threads for some more metrics and I'm sort of confused. Doug has a championship in 2014 without actually taking part in the contests?

I did not realize you counted that has a championship for Doug. With all due respect for him and for the awesome score he posted under Tier 1 rules in the final round, this can't be recognized as a championship, nor even a legit win without accepting that 'special tratments' are okay.

I'm actually surprised Doug that you haven't mentionned this somehow, I mean, you know this can't pass, lol

Edit: Wow, you even got an icon that says 2014 T1 1st place???

It seems like we discussed this via PM back then, but I just posted the long version of the story. Bimmy needed a last second fill in to keep everyone in Tier 3 from getting a bye to the finals and I didn't want to take a prize away from anyone that actually qualified for the tournament. I can't really cut and paste from my phone, but Bimmy made a post on page 11 of the finals thread stating that he awarded me an honorary icon for donating my Tier 3 prize back and submitting the top score under Tier 1 rules.

Bearcatdoug doesn't even have ONE actual tournament championship. Oh...ha...haha....hahahaaaaaa!!

3 weeks logged for genre scores. Like a million to go

I could copy and paste in all the standings and come up with the formulas to make this a hatchet copy and paste job, but I don't want to deal with the mess

Lol, thats messed up man.

Hey, sometimes you just come up one goal or two seconds short in these things!

....I'm not into icons... but I just might make an exception next year...

So is a comeback in the works for next season?

2nd discrepancy - krunch was also given an extra sports point somewhere in 2016
3rd discrepancy - error on my end with Richardhead
4th discrepancy - laddersandcakes is missing 3 points from his point total.  He should be at 98 in an 11th place tie with Ferris

6th discrepancy - Mega Tank has 3 extra action-platformer points, 3 extra puzzle points, 3 extra arcade points

Okay, I think I need to set things straight.  I'm not looking to start a war here and let's not have any drama over what I'm going to say.  You were a Tier 3 competitor, bottom line.  Yes, you played by Tier 1 rules and you posted a better score than arnpoly, but he was still the Tier 1 champion of 2014.  I'm not sure who awarded you the Tier 1 champion icon, but it looks as if it was in error.  Being a Tier 3 competitor that year, it should technically be a Tier 3 icon.  Or, we can even create a special icon for the honorary score.  I'm not looking to stir up controversy here and start fights with people, but for the sake of compiling data for championship wins and such, arnpoly is the Tier 1 champ of 2014.
