Will your favorite game upload to the AVS Scoreboard on NintnedoAge? When do I back out to AVS main menu to upload score?
This thread is your go to place for that and more....Games that work, don't work and will soon to be added to the scoreboard system.

If your favorite game is not on the list, feel free to request it to be added here. This way the programmers can see what is in work, and memvers will not send mulitple private messages requesting a game to be added that is already in work.
Please understand that to add a game to the server takes work from mulitple people before it is 100% ready to go live...so it WILL take time.

Also understand that not all games will be able to be added...due to lack of score system on cart, how the cart stores the score and what it does with that score as soon as you lose your last life. Hence the reason there is a "When to submit" column.

Some of these games have been uploaded and tested over the past few years, and with the multiple changes to NintendoAge, the AVS programming and the Scoreboard Software...things may have changed. Please let us know if a game no longer works or the "When to submit column" is incorrect now.

This list will be an ever changing list so check back often.

Once I get everything typed up over time...I plan on sorting by NTSC/LICENSED/UNLICENSED/FAMI/HOMEBREW...
but for now I need to keep the in order I have.
Please understand this list will be in work over the next couple of days, weeks, months and years

This is a PERFECT example of what we are going to be looking for from the general community.
More people playing and testing will make our database more accurate and complete in a much more timely manner.

Is there a process to get homebrew games to be added to the scoreboard?
For Future Reference...
You can post requests (I will update main post) in this thread so multipe people can get visability on it.
It will also reduce the number of duplicate requests the programmers get for the same game.

Request: SMB / Duck Hunt combo cart. I just tried to upload an SMB score from it (I don't have the standalone cart), and of course discovered it's not in the database   (Although based on the messaging, I believe the console itself recognized the score.)
Talked to the powers that be and found out it is a different ROM from SMB or SMB/DH/WCTM...so it will have to be uploaded as a seperate entry. The evil overlord might be able to make it happen...but will take some work to combine scores.

Thanks for letting us know.

Is there a uniform way homebrew developers can store scores in their future games to make the support of their game as painless as possible to implement?

I don't know how feasible this would be. We could always say "store final high scores in decimal format in the $0700 area of RAM" but then a game might come along that requires that space.

But honestly it probably isn't even worth trying to do, since homebrews should be the easiest games to implement. The developers can easily tell us which addresses the scores are located at, and if they're decimal or hex format.

Any chance famicom games will be compatible for scoreboard?
Yes there is...there are a few in work at the moment but still being tested.
I know for a fact contra works...Fami Tetris will upload your score to NTSC Tetris....
So the details have to be hashed out...just not a priority since NTSC is going to be the majority of scoreboard play.

First of all, the scoreboard is amazing. So much life is being breathed into old games. Love revisiting games I would otherwise ignore. Quick question: What can be done about rollover scores. There are games, such as 1942, where the score rolls over once hitting a million points. Seems counter-intuitive to pause the game at 999990 and upload. I know there is little you can do but there will be some games, like 1942, where the scoreboard will be pretty meaningless.
Yep. Nothing that can be done. The challenge will be backing out to the AVS menu when you're as close to max numbers as you can be.

FDS is a bigger problem of detecting the game (it isn't in memory when booting) and making sure the game didn't change during play. You could start with SMB, then swap to Zelda to get random data into the SMB score area, then swap back to SMB for submitting, all without the system knowing.

Isn't there another source, where new added games are shown? Or is it the only possibility to let the users try and post it into this thread?
Even at the ScoreBoard-site (http://nintendoage.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Scoreboard.Home) it's only possible to see all the games which already have an uploaded score. Games with Scoreboard support but no score aren't in the list.
This list is not all inclusive. The team is working furiously everyday loading up new games. Often times faster than we can test them.
If you find a game that is not on the list (or when to submit scores)
PLEASE POST IT HERE.
The more "testers" we have the faster the list will grow.
After all, this is a community site and we love the help.

Is there any way to bypass certain small checksum differences, like if a homebrew dev numbered the title screen? I'd like to see 0-to-X added to Scoreboard, but since there will not be a regular release, every copy that was made is different at the checksum level.

I tried Crisis Force, which is now in the database, but it seems to have some problems. I've sumbitted a score on the Game Over screen with about 87000 points, in the ranking it just shows 8700: http://nintendoage.com/index.cfm?...

Duck Tales is listed as not working because the Score is ereased when Game Over.

As written above I've tested Duck Tales 2, where the score also disappears after a Game Over. But as long as the game doesn't return to the title screen, you have the possibility to sumbit the score.
Isn't this also working for the first Duck Tales? When you loose your last life, Game Over appears in the top right corner and a jingle is played. This should be enough time to sumbit the score, which is still displayed:

Tengen Pacman (black cart) needs to be enabled. It is by far the most common variant, though Tengen licensed, Tengen Unlicensed, Namco US, and Namco Japan are exactly the same besides the title screen.

So far, I've only been able to submit by playing the Namco ROM on the PowerPak rather than my unlicensed cartridge. For those of us who don't collect every game variant, it would be helpful.

EDIT: this appears to be fixed, as the Pacman (Unl) ROM seems to work now, at least through my PowerPak. I'm not sure if my black Tengen Pacman cart is identical to the ROM on my Powerpak or not.

***While we are on the subject of unlicensed Tengen games, I think it needs to be stated that Nintendo Tetris / Tengen Tetris and Namco Ms Pacman / Tengen Ms Pacman are currently tied to the same entries in the leaderboards. IMO these games are fundamentally different in terms of game engine as well as scoring, so I propose both versions of Tetris and Ms Pacman should be split to separate entries in the database.

Looks like there's a glitch in Cobra Triangle. Twice I submitted scores during the "Enter Initials" screen, and they submitted as 5 million+ points. Pretty sure in both cases I didn't even eclipse 500,000 in the game.

Yeah, i can back this up. I've submitted a score earlier I had taken down of 15 million+ points when i submitted at the enter initials screen. something funky is going on.

I've also tried submitting a score i've gotten that was over 1 million points and it resets to 0 at a million (see my 18,200 score on the scoreboard). so we shouldn't be seeing any million+ scores for this game unless theres a fix for games that reset scores over a million.

If you hit all the targets on all 3 bonus games then you'll have a pretty easy time breaking a million points for this game, so be careful.

Thank you very much for your consideration!

I've tried to upload a score vor Vice: Project Doom some time ago since it's listed in the scoreboard: http://nintendoage.com/index.cfm?...

But due any reason the scoreboard support is disabled (same as for Duck Tales).

I've tried the Famicom version of Tetris made by BPS.
When checking the scoreboard you get connected with the list of the US version of Tetris, which is completly different.

+1. BPS Tetris, Nintendo Tetris, and Tengen Tetris are all completely different games yet they all point to the same leaderboard...

Ms Pacman (Tengen and Namco versions) also suffers the same issue.

Things would get a little hairy (no pun intended), as the game obviously features two different titles that could be scored, but for peasants like I who went cheap and only own the 2-in-1, it would be nice to at least log scores for "Donkey Kong", even if "Junior" was off of the table.
The issue here is that the scoreboard only looks in one spot per game for scores, so in this situation you'd have two options:

1) Only look at one game, if by chance it keeps the scores in different locations.
2) If the score is in the same location in RAM from both games, you'd be able to upload a score without specifying which game it would be for.

Both options are dumb, so sadly multicarts just won't work, as far as tracking scoreboard scores go.

I did a score submission for Mario Bros. It gave me 2 error messages saying "no internet connection" something along those lines. Well, my score submitted on the 3rd attempt, but it uploaded 3 duplicate scores.   Maybe a bug?

Any other games you guys want added that I missed?

Sadly Track & Field is probably never going to be turned back on since it saves different events scores in different places, so depending on what event you get a game over at, it doesn't know where to look for a proper score.

Are you able to add Adventures of Dino Riki? It's my favorite shmup from my childhood and I'd love to post some scores!

E.T. isn't up.   It must be mis-labeled. I screwed up when coding the scores and put the ten thousands digit in a completely different location, so it isn't possible to detect it. I tried calling the score from the flash memory location but the scoreboard doesn't seem to like that.

My new game Scramble (arcade port) is officially added!

It's for sale over in my store (there are only three copies left though):

The thought just occured to me that the newest Scoreboard software is needed in order to submit scores with GTROM boards. Try using this version and let me know if you still have issues!
