C’mon Bertie!! The birds aren’t that bad!! I like when you find a trigger point for the birds/bats/enemies, that make you realize how cruel some of the programmers were.

So... farming for extra lives isn't allowed, but point pressing is? How does that work? Do you have to get your fifth life before you start pressing?

I believe the rules only forbid collecting each 1up more than once or continuing to play after losing five lives in total. Don't abuse 1up loops ether from racking points or by collecting 1ups. But point pressing is okay as long as you don't use more than five lives. Bimmy can clarify, but I'm sure that's what he meant.







 

No, they aren't that bad, except that if you don't know they are there, they kill you...  Of course, they aren't the only enemy used for insta-death.  I don't like going slow, but my memory isn't what it once was either. 


 

Hmm I'm gonna have to wait for a rules clarification. Point pressing is my only chance at a score I'll be content with, I'm not good at the other Gaidens but somehow I'm even worse at this one. Any tips for beating the level 2 boss? (Cliff side with the spiders). Which power up works best?

Remember that your attacks do a lot more damage if you have both shadow clones, so you want both for the second boss fight. Just position yourself and your shadow clones on the wall and attack him. The fireball magic that attacks diagonally downward works well.

Knowing how to use your shadow clones makes boss fights much easier.

 

I'm trying to keep people from doing 1-up loops with the extra lives you can collect in the game and I also threw the clause in about farming extra lives with the points just to prevent any sort of lives loops I might not be aware of that could make a dishonest run look legit.  I didn't forbid point pressing, but once you die for the fifth time, your run is over.  For those who are unable to to gain enough extra lives to die five times, I added a rule where they could play as far into life "0" as possible.  The one thing that makes Ninja Gaiden 2 tough to do for a contest is the extra lives every 100,000 points.

It's Friday and I'm still first place. I didn't do any point pressing. I don't know if I'll bother to post a better score or not.

Yeah, 2-1 has some neat parallax scrolling.

Vice Project Doom copied this stage, as well as the darkness/illumination gimmick from stage 3-1.




 

I’m still losing my 5th live around 7.

Ill have to play VPD again. I got pretty far during the last contest. And that memory makes me think I prefer VPD over NGII.

I shit the 7-2 bed. I couldn't get past that last jump in the first stage of 7-2. I think I can at least get to the final boss battle.

Ok after many continues, I have reAch the end screen. I think I can do it five lives.
