I am proud to announce that I'm working on a possible port of the game The Sword of Ianna a few days ago has been released for MSX2 and ZX Spectrum.

The Sword of Ianna is a video game by spanish Retroworks, Fco. Javier Peña (utopian), Fco. Javier Velasco (pagantipaco), Alberto J. González (McAlby), and Marco Antonio del Campo (MAC).

In case you are curious, here is a video presentation for both machines:
ZX Spectrum:

MSX2:

VERSION NES
Make the port has been my endeavor. I contacted the team and they seem to like the idea. By now I was trying to make a demo of the first level.

Graphics and map are already done, and now I'm developing control the player. It operates a door, and little else.

UPDATE 10/06/2017
The Barbarian makes it simple to jump and climb: when we approached a skull and press the A button, the barbarian climb.

UPDATE 10/10/2017
- Added logic gates which drive levers (70%)
- Added link between rooms (50%).

UPDATE 10/12/2017
- Added logic gates which drive levers (70%)
- Added link between rooms (100%).
- Added animations torches and washed.

ROM alpha: Right and Left to move. Button A to jump. For climbing hold button A. To operate the levers simply approach them and touch them.
In this alpha you can switch screens by pressing SELECT or START.

Awesome! I've been lusting after the MSX version on Twitter, so this is great to hear  .

So I tried out the ROM, and first thing I noticed is that there is a glitch with the jumping where if you if you don't press any buttons while jumping, your character gets frozen in the air.
Other than that, it looks like a pretty fun exploration game, and I like those kinds of games

If, after all it is an alpha.

Minor problems arranging them go later.

Now what interested me was to put links between screens, functionality and door levers, etc. . .

Just played the demo and so far the mechanics work great. Of course there are a few bugs, but that's to be expected. Awesome progress!

¡Gracias!

Little by little I will be implementing more things.
Missing player animations. In addition, you have to create enemies. Many of them have special actions that interact with the scenario.
Right now the biggest problem I see in the lack of space in CHR. Although, with a mapper UNROM could be solved, I have certain limitations of my own when programming to get change banks of tiles "on the fly", which would be a solution to be able to put the tiles of the player and enemies all together.

Looking sweet! Question, will the barbarian be the only playable character, or is it possible to add another?

In the original game, the Barbarian is the only playable character and do not intend to change that.

Love this! The MSX trailer reminded me a bit of Blackthorne, which I absolutely adore.

I really hope this isn't a dead project! This looks like it would've been my go to game in terms of sword and sorcery
