Hey everyone!  This week's contest is going to be Palamedes.  Here are the rules:

  • Play on 1 Player Mode
  • Play on Level 5
  • Play until you lose
  • To get your score after you lose, select 1 Player Mode, Level 5 and immediately pause the game.  Your score will be in the high score spot.

The contest ends Sunday, 7/8/12 at 10 PM NA time.  Your user name must be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  Good luck everyone and have fun!

One of my favorite puzzle type games. Hoping to find some time to participate this week.

That's already a great score to shoot for Mog. How many stages are you able to get a perfect clear?

I really enjoy this little game, cool and smooth for a contest!

12 or 13.  I really like this game also, I'd like to beat it this week. There are only 20 levels I hear.

I love this game too!

Yup, there are 20 stages in the game.  The last stage actually has special background music, which I really like.

And wow, can you really get 12 or 13 perfects on difficulty level 5?  The best I've ever done is 7.

Haha no. That one was through 8 with perfects. Almost did 9 but it goes so fast. I think if the firing controls were a bit better you could get much further with that. Having to wait a fraction of a second to fire after moving sucks

Anyone have any tips so far? I'm not sure if I should just be going for blackjacks (1-2-3-4-5-6) every time or if 6-of-a-kinds are better.

The highest priority is to go for the Special Bonus or "Perfect Clear".  If you can shoot all of the dice without ever pressing down on the controller to clear any lines, you'll score 50,000 points.  This only works on early stages however.  On later stages, the dice fall so fast that this is impossible.

When not going for the Special Bonus, go for 1-2-3-4-5-6 as a priority over 6-of-a-kind.  It scores 320 per die eliminated versus just 160.

In general, the scoring works like this, regardless of the type of "hand":

Clear 1 Line: 20x dice eliminated
Clear 2 Lines: 40x
Clear 3 Lines: 80x
Clear 4 Lines: 160x
Clear 5 Lines: 320x

1-2-3-4-5-6 is the best hand in the game, because it's the only one that clears 5 lines.  (6-of-a-kind clears just 4 lines)

Hope that helps!

EDIT: Added info on the Special Bonus ("Perfect Clear").

A perfect clear is a secret 50,000 bonus for shooting all of the dice in a stage without ever pressing downward on the controller to clear the lines.

I actually found this by accident right away when I first played the game because I didn't have the manual.

Ya I had no idea what the bottom thing was for a while when I first started this game either.

Heres the manual if anyone wants to see it:

Awesome rdrunner, thank you! I thought using the "leftovers" to remove lines was the added bonus.. Gonna give that a shot!

Time's up for me.  Never really played this game on max difficulty until this week.  Wish I had sooner, because I think it's a MUCH better game this way.  The easiest setting starts out a bit too slow.

Got 9 perfects and then made it to stage 16.  Would have liked to have beaten the game, but oh well.

Have at it!

Awesome game, I wish the dice combinations came into play more but it's clearly all about the perfect clears. I could probably top this but not by much, I don't think I could get a perfect clear on level 6 and doing dice combination runs won't add much.

Nice job everybody! I meant to participate a bit more. Like TWarwick07, This is the first I've heard of the game. Doesn't seem like a bad one at all, though I got no where near what everyone else did on a couple of attempts, which was all I had time for this week.
