Sort of a side topic, but I found a picture of a Canadian version of one of these in one of the media kits I have.  It just had some random part number attached to it, so it wasn't a M series item.

Wow, auctions like this make me question if I'm a real collector. I would have guessed this thing might have been worth $1,500 - $2,000 and I wouldn't drop $1,000 on it myself. You guys are crazy!

Selective reading ftw!

I said I personally valued it somewhere over $1000, just not $4000 (again, to ME PERSONALLY). And if you want to bring the M82 into it: it's sweet as shit, a fully interactive machine that you can play, and isn't something one of us could cobble together on a weekend if we wanted to. Sorry, that goes into my personal value determination. Your mileage obviously may vary.

Just because I don't value it as much as some of you guys do, some of you are acting like I just punched your mothers in the gut with a steel gauntlet. Relax, people.

Oh, Starman Ghost: the M8 looks like crap compared to the M82... not a fan of the M8 aesthetic. I'm the one disappointed in YOU.

pfffft, the M82 needs to drop a few pounds. She's a big girl. The M8 is nice and sleek, with curves in all the right places    .

This is an awesome piece of memorabilia, but it's way to rich for my blood, so I highly doubt I'll ever own one.

Not a chance it would have ended at $1,300.

The M8 looks like a 12 year old boy. The M82 has some junk goin' on... something to hold onto.

Lol...and then it'd be $3000-something and then another few hundred (perhaps $1000?) or more to get it graded and put in a (ahem, extremely large) custom case .  One would have to admit, though, *that* would be a thing of beauty.  I've always thought an M9 would make one heck of a museum piece, for anyone at all that collects Nintendo memorabilia.  At the same time, though...while I wouldn't mind trying to put together such a museum in my basement (and have been subconsciously trying for the better part of 8 years )...I have not the money nor the space with which to perform such a feat.

Man, I still kick myself for not at least picking up the PAL one I saw a few years back. Ended for a mere $150 + shipping from the Netherlands (whatever that would've been)  .

I dunno about that. All you would see is the outside box.

Yes, and then we could get the graded display case graded as well! So we could then have a case inside a case inside a case!

Can't get it graded, its not sealed!

This thing is massive, ~60 pounds. The parts inside are weird. The NES has no stickers other than "for display only" on the bottom, so boo no serial number. It has functional buttons and the AC/RF box, but no motherboard or shielding. The cart door is glued shut. Both carts have boards inside but I don't know if they are actual games. Controllers are both complete. I need to get a light bulb for the inside. No stickers or serial numbers on the case, but 007256 is hand written on the box. Not the same handwriting as the 009454 on my M8 box Still waiting for an M8 with Stack Up!

Is that M9 sitting on top of a bunch of old Post Office boxes?

As for getting the graded case graded, we all know that double-wrapping it is never a good idea.

That's exactly what it is.  I remember Bunnyboy showing me the Craigslist ad.

Bet it holds 1000s of rom chips and labels.

A card catalog shelf is probably not a bad idea for those of you with thousands of loose instruction books laying around.
