I know you can cheese the first (and maybe second) round by just bouncing off of the ropes repeatedly.

Okey-dokey, Tetris 2 is done -- as long as Low speed is acceptable, which AFAIK it is:

What made the designers of Tetris 2 decide that fifty levels of the same thing should be required to complete it? It's as if Dr. Mario expected you to clear it 50 times in a row to beat the game -- except that this isn't nearly as good as Dr. Mario, let alone Tetris.

Someone should do a rom hack that turns MUSCLE into a South Park wrestling game.

Bad Street Brawler is done. Although I'm not participating in the Weekly Contests this year, seeing the thread pop up here made me want to play it some more.

No way, it has to be Tag Team Wrestling.

Ha, I just watched a bit of his archived stream -- no wonder it took him so long, since he accidentally selected "NO" on the continue screen at Level 67 (ouch!).

That came really, really close to happening to me at one point, as I accidentally buffered a right directional press (hitting right as I topped out) and reflexively hit Start before it registered that the cursor was on "NO". Thankfully it didn't "take", and I caught my error before I repeated it.

Actually, I think the game disables your input confirmation on the selection screen for about a second after the screen transition -- which is really, really smart design if so.

Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf is done. Took many tried and then just got a lucky round where the cpu totally tanked.

I did the exact same thing halfway through when I beat it for this thread years ago. What a frustrating game to beat!

Oh, and also I beat Zoda's Revenge:

Sword Master is done. Not good, but somehow strangely fun nonetheless. I wish it was a bit longer though. I noticed a couple of interesting things about the game - 1st, if you completely game over after using your continues and start over, you'll still have your expanded health/magic bars from gaining experience. I was wondering why the game seemed easier when I beat it. I then went back and beat it from a fresh start just for my own state of mind - I wouldn't feel right only clearing it that way. You have to actually power off the system to start fresh; resetting isn't enough.

2nd, I noticed that the manual has a line about platforms being "very slippery." That's just a nice way of saying that the game is glitchy and has terrible collision detection. That belongs in the NES bullshit hall of fame, right up there with Castlevania 2's lying villagers.

Rambo is done.

According to my math, this completion both puts me over 800 points for the second straight year and breaks the single-year licensed points record I set last year.

Yeah, I think that's right (733-731 without the bonuses).

I beat Shadow of the Ninja last night for the first time. That's the 4th game I've beaten for the first time on the NES this year, after TMNT, Battle of Olympus, and Sword Master.

It's definitely the best out of those four. Not quite on the level of Ninja Gaiden or Shatterhand though. I eventually got to 5-2 before game overing there, then the next time I made sure to look up the final boss strats so that didn't happen again. Old school Natsume really was great, huh? I think I need to put Chaos World on my Famicom exclusive rpg to play list.

What's the win condition for Freedom Force? I'm seeing multiple loops on gamefaqs and TMRs run, but that's not listed as a requirement here. Is 1 run through the 5 stages sufficient, or at least 3 for the bad ending and 4 for the good ending?

Congrats on joining the 400 club, Crabby! And you're right, Fun House isn't fun. I tried that one last year, and rage-quit in the last few stages. The controls are slippery enough before they started added "ice" stages late in the game. As for Freedom Force, I got credited for that one a couple of years ago just by looping it once. I'm not really aware of some of the other stuff you've mentioned, so that's interesting.

You're also in the neighborhood of beating Bea's record for games cleared on a system in a year.  Might already have passed her.

1 loop seems fine to me, since you don't get credits either way. But, it's so short I could understand if you wanted to do all the loops just to be sure.

I must confess I don't do a great job of keeping tabs on the SNES threads. What is the record for completions there? And I suppose her tally is a bit higher if you add her SNES and NES completions together for any given year, since she's been in active in both threads in the same year before. I'm not sure I'm even half the gamer she is.

Freedom Force and World Champ are both done. Both games were pretty decent. Freedom Force is super hard so I had to abuse some pause buffering to get it done, and World Champ was actually a really decent fighter.

Just knocked out World Class Track Meet. The older it gets the harder it gets.

Also, I'm finishing up Prince of Persia tonight or tomorrow (on level 10 of 13 now).
