Ratings key: 
10 - One of your very favorite artists of all time.
9 - Killer fucking band.  Or artist.
8 - Great sound, great songs, great albums.
7 - Very good, but not quite great.
6 - Pretty good.  More than a few songs you like.  You'd entertain the thought of seeing them live if they were in the area.  Or still alive.
5 - They're okay, but maybe not something you'll go out of your way to listen to.
4 - Meh.  There may be a song or two, or an album that you dig, but you'd rather listen to other stuff.
3 - Not very good.  You will more likely than not turn the station if they come on the radio.
2 - Not your cup of tea at all.  Some people like this, but you are not one of them.

I listen to the first two albums and then just anything that got radio play after that. Not something I would listen to every day or even every week but it's hard to deny that he's good at his craft.

Voted 9 here too, and quoted for truth.  Eminem is insanely talented and his game matured nicely unlike many other bands/artists.  Also, as goofy as shit as he was when he splashed on the scene, he stamped his place immediately against the ridicule of a white rapper.

Rap god, the man IS a machine! Also, so many catchy songs, it's all so well written too. And great humor too, probably the funniest musical artist that isn't an out and out comedy act. Also, sad songs, angry songs, the whole gamut of emotions, and just great overall musical variety in general. The guy is incredible!

I gave Em an 8. I'm not really into rap, but I do like a lot of his stuff and I do think he has a lot of talent. I don't listen to him regularly but when I'm the mood I can really get into his music.

I've gone from loving this dudes music and style back in the day, to barely being able to stand him these days.

His talent, influence, and accomplishments are undeniable though, so for that reason I gave him a 7.

Yes, when I came up with my list of "polarizing" artists, Metallica wasn't anywhere near my radar  


Patience.  I'm a huge metal guy.  All the name brand groups will see their time in the sun eventually.  And who knows, maybe some Gojiras and Strapping Young Lads will also start finding their way in some day.

My friend saw them in concert a few years back, said it was an awesome show.

I voted a 5. I can't really say I'm a big fan of Eminem, but I do like a few songs. Sing For the Moment was the song that got me into Aerosmith, which in turn got me into rock and music in general. Lose Yourself is an incredible song too. But all in all, I've tried listening to some of his albums/singles and it doesn't do much for me.


I'm going to nominate Radiohead. I'm just curious to see how they would do since they are universally acclaimed but still seem to be a love it or hate it band.
