After a few rounds, I managed to get a decent score. Won't beat the tie, but this game pisses me off with the AI and how certain characters seem to respond faster when the CPU uses them vs the slowness when I use them.

So, I managed a 12 point spread: http://i191.photobucket.com/album...

I might be able to hit a 13 or 14 point spread, but I won't have time to give it another shot before the end of the weekend.

I doubt that I'll be able to top 14 due to the mercy rule. I guess that it would be possible if someone could take a 9-0 lead and then follow it up with a huge inning, but that seems like a perfect storm type scenario.

I've only played once and I lost 6-7. I scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th but it wasn't enough, haha.

Yeah, it's really all down to luck in that regard. I ended up with a 12 point lead a few times and let the computer score 3 runs in hopes to catch another dominating inning, but it hasn't happened yet.

The other possibility would be for someone to score 15+ runs only to have the computer go into home run derby mode in the bottom of the inning and ruin their score. I might try to get a few more games in, but I'm satisfied with my current score even if it doesn't hold up.

Just want to say: sorry for the delay on updating the leaderboards.

I'm on it right now and they should be updated very shortly.

It's just one of those things where you get in a bit of a funk because you have so many scattered tasks on your plate that you don't really feel like tackling any of them

AND... they're updated!

That happened to me. I was up 19-1 and then decided to pull my pitcher since he wasn't throwing the ball with any zip, lo and behold, first pitch solo shot, followed by another HR. Then, 2 ground outs, single, single, and a just missed catching 3 run homer. Its been awhile since I just flat out not finished and pressed the power button off and walked away. And, I had Mudcat in who has a decent curve.

Just realized that you don't have to wait for the computer to make a pick before you make your next one. I thought you had to take turns.

The reason why it's only NES games is because I'm way more familiar with the NES library than the SNES library.  Plus, I have a near complete set of NES games and can playtest rules for nearly all of them.  My SNES library is much smaller and I'm lacking certain popular titles as well as many hidden gems.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

No problem, man.  We debated adding SNES games to the contests several years ago, but figured NES games would be the best ones to use.

I like it strictly NES.

I would hope that SNES would be a separate competition.

Updated my score. I doubt this will hold with a bert update looming and Caleb on the verge of putting up something truly ridiculous.

If it makes you feel any better, I messed up a first inning 9-0 lead yesterday by not paying attention. I was winning 9-0 with a runner on 2nd and two outs. Instead of striking out on purpose, I got a hit and went up 10-0. The next batter grounded out to end the inning. Since I still hadn't noticed that I scored 10 runs instead of 9, I got through the bottom half of the inning without giving up any runs only to win the game 10-0. I gave up and didn't play another game the rest of the day. Although, if I had a 18 run lead in a game only to have the computer score 4 straight runs off of me, I probably would have broken something.

I think that last part is only a matter of time if the only thing keeping him from having an 19-1 win on the board was the "NFL Blitz effect". I've been able to put up several 9-0 leads, but I can't seem to follow it up with the huge inning that it's likely going to take to win this week.

This is it for me. I'm going out of town for the weekend so there won't be any last minute updates on Sunday night from me.

Yeah that's fine, I wouldn't mind seeing a separate SNES competition. It's just that of all the consoles NES is the one console I don't own :-P I stick to virtual console games for that.

Score update. I got absolutely saved by hitting a two out, three run homer in my last inning. Now to wait patiently for Caleb to put up a 20 spot.

Nice! I was saved myself by a 2 run home run in that last inning. I'll see if I can reclaim the lead this weekend. That 17 spot is going to be tough to surpass.

I'd like to get a head start on the last two games, but I'm still afraid that someone will break the 20 run mark. I wish that I could've gotten that 9th run in the 2nd inning since an early win is almost as good as an extra run due to the tiebreaker.

updated my score. This might be the last one I post 'cause I've got a busy weekend (Jurassic World, BBQ saturday, followed by sand soccer tourney in Ocean City, MD sunday). Nice score Bearcat! I was able to rally on 2 outs but and almost hit another HR but robbed.

Thanks! It sounds like you've got a fun weekend planned, so hopefully I can sleep easy without the fear of waking up to see that I got blown out by a 25-0 score.
