I've been waiting to make this post for one item in particular...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=26020...

Held my breath all week on this one. I've never clicked a tracking number so many times. I was biting my tongue in the other thread discussing yellow/grey NFR DK64 Seller's brother found it at a flea market in a box of games. I'm sure they thought they made a killing

----

Also other noteworthy pickups:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

linky
Unusable and kind of out of place between my two other finds here, but I think it's really pretty damned cool. And it's my thread

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

...and the last game I needed for my NTSC collection (some of you may remember my article about cutting free the top games). So now all I'm chasing are variants and the last few Pal-excl's that I need. BTW I was really hoping that "The Great Waldo Search" would be the final one I needed but it was third-to-last. Would have been appropos though I'm not really excited about this though, for some reason. Since 1. I'm not really "done" and 2. the journey was far more important to me than this last little piece.

I also wanted to note for those who don't know, that this test cart's back label has no factory imprint code. I don't know if this is the same for all test carts, but it's a great way to spot a potential fake if it's common to them all.

I didn't think I'd ever top my Flintstones 2 boxed steal, lightning struck twice. And Mike, I think the last one went for $650 to be more precise Although it's priceless to me. Sorry all, I know how many of you desire this.

Ladies and gentlemen... the new Nistle!

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

I hate to break it to you Dan, but that Ultima IV isn't for the Genesis. It's for the SMS. So if you don't want it, send it to me

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

OMFG!! I literally yelled out loud when I saw that Zelda test cart for $15. That's like finding a SE for $40.

Thanks all. This is kind of vindicating after the one I missed in 06 Obv. the auction's long gone but here's the discussion...and note my last post on page two:

http://www.nesforums.com/showthre...

Also I just found out Rory still has pics of it up at his site.

http://nintendohaven.com/joomla/i...

I smacked myself in the head pretty hard when I realized what happened. Stupid wife wanting me to stop hitting "refresh" on the computer to go out on a dinner date! Anyways I've kind of coveted this game since then. One could call it fate that this came to pass.

I also noticed that his copy didn't have the embossed factory code on the back either. I looked up Bum's site but it doesn't mention this detail...

...and Mike, yeah I meant SMS I love collecting these oldest RPG items, I think they'll hold their value better than many nondescript but rare video gaming items over time.

Yeah, old RPG's are awesome. I'm really into the old PC AD&D games. You know, the gold-box SSI ones. Looking for Champions of Krynn to complete the trilogy...just need the discs and the box, and random inserts. Already got both the books for it...you know, if you happen upon one. I've never paid more than a couple bucks for one of them, so it was a shock to see what they go for on eBay.

Wow dude, that's awesome. Congrats Dan, you've got a good eye!

I'm not familiar with the boxed Flinstones 2, where'd you score that?

Auction link is now invalid, but iirc it was $25 bin with Cart/Box: Krusty's Fun House, Bart vs the World, Bart vs Space Mutants and Flintstones 1 & 2. Both Fs2 pieces have been sold off to private collections, scroll down deep into the thread for some more amazing shizzle I got out of this guy
