My evil plans of evilness were so effective that the target hasn't been seen online since Saturday morning!
Phase 2 shall commence soon.

I completed a run with around 480K but that was with all my continues. I think I can beat my score from last contest significantly, provided I get a good run of it all.

I will post my final interview here later today. Perhaps it will return next season if bimmy, guillavoie or Santa have the time to do it and someone else wants to take up the reigns

Unfortunately, in many games, the 50Hz timing give an advantage, like on Mike Tyson's Punch Out.
Not sure about this one, but ideally, you can participate if you use an emulator running the NTSC port or use an NTSC cart on the new HD TVs.

Yes. You can get much faster times on a lot of opponents on MTPO on a pal system, with a pal cart.
I am not sure if it gives a distinct advantage on this particular game, though.

I don't think I've ever beat the first stage of this game, but what the heck, why not? I actually just played through the Battletoads arcade game with my youngest daughter a day ago, so this feels relevant.

Been stupidly busy irl, but was having a conversation with some friends last night about "paralyzation of choice," i.e. having too many games to pick from and not being able to decide what to play. I mentioned NA's Weekly NES/Monthly SNES contests were excellent for helping to focus on fun stuff to play, and it dawns on me; I haven't been participated in forever... So, how's it goin?

Game Clear - 370,550

This was way too close.  I could maybe go a little lower, but this is good enough.

There is a difference this week.
I despise this game, so unless I am risking going under 5th place, I am done for the week.

Hmm, I had never played any version for low score before, so I wonder what all your tricks are?  You were very clever with Battletoads last year

Level #1/7 enemies can be tricked into killing each other
Level #2 enemies knocked off ledges
Level #3 ram Lindas off edges

I assume you are not using any dash attacks against the bosses, which can drop your score by about half.  Can Roper be beaten this way?

Perhaps I'll watch a youtube and log what I expect a possible score would be

Everyone seems to be using one of the Lees, which could have something to do with it.  Do they score less points?  I use them in the SNES version, but felt more comfortable with the Toads with this port for some reason.  Longer reach when trying to bust out of an enemie's combo?

Throwing the enemies also gives you no points, so you can score 0 points by doing that.
But be wary when trying to do that with Lindas while using the Lee brothers or you might end up on a hair hold/gut punch combo that will score you too damn many points.

How many enemies can reliably be picked up though?  And Blagh is the only boss

With the Lees, I had no trouble picking up most of the enemies on the beat'em up parts, sans the bosses and the flying ones.
Also, it seems that the Toads ram give 2K points and the run jump kick of the Lees give 1K points.

I found playing this last time that the Lee brothers had attacks that score fewer points than the Toads.

The robots in level one and whatever the basic enemy is in level two can be picked up and thrown with no points. I guess the Lindas can be tossed too although I never bothered ... they are problematic as-is.

I beat Blag almost entirely with throws. I kicked him once by accident.

Jump kicks score 750 points which is often the lowest scoring attack. In some side scrolling levels you can kick while ducking for the same 750 points.
