I swear that box, at the beginning of mission two, reads "THC" on one side.

I used to wonder what that box said too. I'm fairly sure that it says "TJC", which probably stands for Technos Japan Corporation.

I looked up the last low score contest and a video was posted but it is no longer up?!?!!!

Tom v said he used 50 point punches and knocked enemy's down without uppercuts. I tried this and didn't make it past level 1!

Im just gonna try to beat the game and hope for the best.

Score updated!

The best spoiler free hint that I can give you is that my score didn't involve anything that results in losing points. That's why headbutts are forbidden since any glitches that reduce your score in a low score contest are universally banned.

I dunno, the idea of throwing a box of Double Dragon carts as a weapon seems pretty funny. There are a lot of different ways to keep your score down, so trying to combine them all together gets a bit complicated. I think Tom's lowest score while finishing the game was 18,880 so I'd have to find a way to knock off another 3000 points just to match it. I'm pretty sure that I have an idea, but I'll probably stick with what I've got.

Score update. I almost made it to the final bosses. If only I had one more life.

This game is not as difficult as I remember it being as a kid.

I don't think I ever beat it as a kid, but I didn't own a copy and only remember renting it a few times. When I finally got a copy about ten years ago, I was able to beat it without too much trouble once I figured out how to keep Willy from shooting me.

I played it a lot as a kid, but I didn't know how to get past the blocks on stage 4. There's so much more after the blocks.

I got one attempt in so far. I made it to the jump over the water, and then promptly got knifed right into that hole. I want to say the one other time I played the game I got to the exact same part

I can beat Double Dragon IV and Battletoads Double Dragon quite easily, so I refuse to let this defeat me this week! Even if it means relocating our setup to our bedroom

I think you deserve to be ahead of me for making it a little further. But hopefully we'll both have beaten the game by Sunday.

I like this one better than 2. The ground and pound move is pretty cool. It's easier I think.

What at do you guys think?

I wonder how many will be able to beat this. Probably just completing the game will be good enough for a decent top 8 spot.

I haven't played 2, and I only played 3 once as part of a hard games night.  I had been drinking so that didn't help.

Its definitely way different than IV which loves to spam you with enemies and is more reliant on counters and such

But it is for sure better than the Tiger Electronic I had growing up:

I'd take the NES Double Dragon 2 over this one any day. I'm probably one of the few people that prefers the Genesis Double Dragon over the NES version since it's basically a straight port of the arcade game, so you don't have to earn moves and there aren't any platforming sections.

Low score is definitely going to decide the top spots.

Abobo's suck. Sometimes they don't give me too much grief and I can keep jump kicking them, other times they hurt me bad.

How granular is progression?  Like, reaching a certain area, or does killing another group of enemies count as "further"?

The platforming is what I hate in 2, disappearing platforms stage is really unnecessary imo. Why do I all of a sudden need to be able to use the crappy jump mechanics for this beat em up? Lol

ill  have to check out the Genesis version .
