Hello there from Chicago. Born and raised in the northwest suburbs (Wadsworth/Gurnee, IL), been residing in the city for a decade now...been collecting since the mid 90s and at one point around 2005 I almost had the entire NES library but then hastily sold it all on craigslist for cheap to some lucky duck because I was in a rush to make a clean break from the collecting/obsession hole. Regretted it ever since but hey it needed to happen at the time for various reasons...so anyway, fast forward to 2016 and I have fully relapsed in NES collecting. Up to 400 carts in about, like, 5 months I think? Yeesh. All except a few have been obtained in the wild here in the windy city, and at times I have been very surpised with my luck and how I've even gotten this far already...just been going really hard with cruising garage/estate/yard sales and flea markets (and pestering non-collector friends to give me their old games haha), and also some good game stores in the area too. Anyway, hello to all, my posting will probably be sparse but if anyone else here lives in the city let's get some trades going or exchange tips on sources for games. I've already made a few e-pen pals off craigslist since I've gotten back into it and it's pretty awesome to have other people to connect to and help out in the hobby; back in the day it was me and just one of my childhood friends going out game hunting (he never sold his collection like a dummy though, so he's almost completed the library at this point) and the hobby seemed much much smaller. I rarely ever ran into other collectors at all and it was kind of amazing just having free reign over everything (video rental stores, Funcolands, toystore clearance bins, etc) but times have definitely changed and those scenarios are all long gone, sigh...oh yeah I also am gunning for Sega Genesis, SNES, Sega Master System, and TG-16, but mostly just specific titles on a small wantlist of mine.
