It's at $430 right now, which I think is ridiculously over-valuing its rarity, *especially* considering the condition. But I guess that's the "gotta have it now" factor of eBay... and collecting .

And I agree with everything Dain said about owners bidding up future auctions of the same item. I see it all the time and have never understood it. I've never done that myself, but I guess that's why I'm always shocked when I do happen to notice that an item I got 5 years ago has increased in value by 2000%. It's like "Whoa! Flintstones 2 is worth *that* much? Damn..."

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

Agreed. Definitely the "gotta have it now" factor is driving this up. The box is rare people, it's not THAT rare. There will be more. It's not fucking SE.

Wow, now at $450... Bidder #2 is David AKA Hounder... he must REALLY want this too!! I think I am going to sit back and watch it for awhile. Doesn't end until Friday and I would guess there won't be too many more bids if any before then. Of course if the guy bidding $175 on my Bomberman II sees it he might bid $1,000 on it so ya never know...

I know this has already been stated but I just have to add that I really think this is insane. This box is not mint or really that close to it at all! A chubby cherub box is rare, but no rarer than a flintstones 2 box or even other rarities.

Dkazz's box that he sold was better than this one, IIRC, and didnt even pull this much- and the auction isnt even close to over yet.

This is not a Stadium Events box. More WILL show up in time when people realize the rarity/ value of it. I really think the rarity of this box is driven up by certain collectors to make it something that it really is not. In this condition, it is definitely not a $500+ box.

dkazz's box was way better, definitely... his copy looked pretty much mint and had all the inserts, the manual, etc.

the seller of this copy has a new pic up.

I guess I should have charged $10,000 for the sealed one the way this auction is going

Lol, with the way this auction is going, you probably could have pulled sealed a price close to what you paid for your sealed SE

Ehh. It was an undesirable but necessary sacrifice. I'm hoping to shortly get some games, in part with the proceeds from CC, that I need from my list of 23 missing.. I'll try and post some eventually as they come in. Maybe nothing quite as good as chubby but not too shabby either! If it all works out that is..

2 as far as I know.

I originally placed a $310 bid on this thinking it won't even come close seeing that the last one went for less and was mintier and had the manual. Guess I was wrong :-/ I plan on winning this one though. Gonna be a tough call I think between me and braveheart seeing that Mike bought bronty's spare

I dropped out of this race. I can't afford to spend this much cash right now with me potentially loosing my job soon. I will just hope for a cheap BIN or hope the price doesn't stay quite this high. I retracted my bid for what good that done, the price didn't actually go down any, lol. I really don't want to pay more than $250 for the good box.....someday......

Yeah I must say David I didn't honestly think anyone would go over my $440 bid, that was kinda like a snipe entered early bid cause I thought it was high enough to win. I think this one is yours buddy. I'll just have to be happy with the CIB Myriad, CIB King Neptune (non-contest finally have them all), and Bubble Bobble 2 box I added this month already! :-)

Is that everyone now? I didn't think we'd see the end of bidding until the last seconds.

What a crazy auction. Are the loose carts worth much? A while ago, I passed on one for $2.00 at a thrift store. Am I wrong for that?
